This new hire will work in the Flavor Manufacturing Center, located at 11102 McCormick Rd in Hunt Valley, MD. The Master Scheduler will report to the Materials Management Department Manager.

Position Overview

Incumbent leads, trains and mentors the Planning and Scheduling Team for the Flavor Manufacturing Center (FMC) and as part of the team, plans and schedules in process and finished goods. Position is responsible for maintaining appropriate inventory levels in order to meet service strategies and represents Materials Management to other departments/functions within McCormick. The Master Scheduler troubleshoots master data issues and works with Supply Planning to balance inventory with customer service and Plant cost.


Key Responsibilities

• Effectively lead, train and mentor Planning and Scheduling employees

• Proactively identifies complex problems/trending issues and drive resolution through root cause analysis. Identify and present capacity resolutions/options to Supply Planning to balance service strategies, plan cost and inventory strategies.

• Work collaboratively with Supply Planning to re-evaluate customer forecasts and consumption/reduction issues that may impact customer service and inventory levels


• Works with purchasing to coordinate material availability, maintain appropriate inventory levels to meet service objectives while managing rework, safety stocks, and inventory turns.

• Involve and work collectively with Buyers, QC, Manufacturing, Warehousing, Customer Service and Supply Planning to provide updates related to production scheduling, stay informed of potential problems and identify solutions to resolve. Some may need Root Cause analysis, corrective action and follow up for delays and/or quality issues.

• Plans and schedules in-process and finished goods on resources to meet demand, and shares accountability for Production Reliability of the production lines. Attend daily Production Meetings and participate on project based meetings.

• Troubleshoot master data issues within and between McCormick facilities and make data change recommendations and test data change scenarios in QC. Represent the Materials Management function internally and inter-divisionally to include SAP upgrades and makes recommendations as appropriate.

• Manage master data to support business practices. Initiate and submit the following reports: MMDCRS, NPC, Cancel / Supersedes, and Change Notices, etc. Run and interpret existing production reports in SAP/APO/BW.



Required Qualifications



Level of Education and Discipline

BSc in Supply Chain, Business or other related field

Certification and/or Licenses


Experience - functional/industry/commercial knowledge, business acumen

Required - 2 years planning/scheduling experience in make-to-order manufacturing supply chain using integrated MRP system. Thorough understanding of manufacturing and production scheduling/planning and supply chain. Demonstrated proficiency with PC software, especially Excel, Access, and Lotus Notes. Ability to prepare detailed reports and analyze data. Thorough understanding of manufacturing and production scheduling/planning and supply chain. Knowledge of integrated MRP system.

Interpersonal Skills - leadership, interactions, communication, influence

Demonstrates professional communication skills written and verbal with all levels of employees both internally and externally. Great attention to detail & analytical skills. Interacts constructively with all levels of personnel, multiple facilities as well as Corporate. Ability to lead, train & mentor employees.

Preferred - SAP/APO experience, inventory management systems experience. 3+ year’s administrative experience, Knowledge of integrated MRP system.




The Master Scheduler plans inventory levels and production scheduling for designated resources at the FMC. Errors or lack of application can result in waste, down-time, added inventory costs, rework, financial loss in excess of $10,000, customer complaints, and/or loss of business. Position maintains confidential information. Draws conclusions using logic and interpretation of data. Detail oriented ability to remember complex tasks with many detailed steps. Possess strong organization skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a changing environment, and identify/resolve complex issues with little support or guidance High degree of interaction with internal and external customers at all levels of the organization The impact of this role could potentially shut down production within a department if the scheduling and planning is not accurate.
