Quality Director, Science and Technology

This new hire will work at the Corporate Headquarters, located in Hunt Valley, MD. The Quality Director, Science and Technology will report to the Americas Quality SME Lead.

Reporting to the Americas Quality SME Lead, the Quality Director, Science and Technology is the Americas Quality lead for enriching Quality Programs with technological improvements and centralized laboratory governance. This individual provides strategic leadership to develop and implement Quality improvements driven by technological tools and decision-making to ensure analytical and sensory laboratory integrity. The Americas Quality Sensory Professionals, Chemists, and Industrial Microbiologist report to this individual. 



  • Innovation and Strategic Leadership – Sets direction, monitors, and adjusts for regional technological investments. Responsible for evaluation of industry tech trends and incorporating impactful solutions into the Americas Quality programs aligned with Journey to Excellence (JTE) principles. Partners with applicable Supply Chain and Food Safety and Quality COE teams to advance global innovation efforts for Americas Quality.
  • Laboratory and System Governance – Standardization of methods, documentation, instrumentation, Co-Lab/Intra/Inter-Lab studies in accordance with Global requirements. Manage chemical proficiency testing, gold standard program, and support product lifecycle from sampling to production.
  • Talent Management – Training Strategy, Talent Reviews, Succession/Progression Planning, Development Plans, Performance Management of Direct Reports, Hiring Process Involvement for Industrial Microbiologist, Chemists, and Sensory Professionals.
  • Deliver Business Success and Track Performance – Drive results through development and management of Americas Quality automated scorecard with on-going metric progression to improve quality and business results.
  • Escalated Issue Management – Support resolution of internal, customer, and supplier issues with Risk Assessments, Market Actions, Internal Business Communication and Alignment.
  • Supports Supply Chain, Sales, Marketing, Commercialization, and Product Development functions as needed
  • Partner with Engineering, Materials & Process Technology organization, Analytical Sciences, and Sensory Science
  • Travel requirements of up to 25%



  • Bachelor’s Degree in relevant discipline  
  • Auditing proficiencies required through training or certification (i.e. ASQ, CFSQA)  

  • Certification focused on Quality and Food Safety for Supply Chain requirement: PCQI (or HACCP based on region) 

  • 7+ years relevant experience

  • Demonstrated performance and potential 

  • Team leadership experience required 

  • Laboratory Management experience required

  • Project Management/ Change Management experience  

  • Participant in Supply Chain/Product Development/Sales Teams

  • GFSI scheme (i.e. SQF, BRC) management experience required

  • Technically proficient in analytical chemistry or food microbiology

  • Experience managing ISO/IEC 17025:2017 standards
