General Accountant

Position: General Accountant
Based: Łódź, Poland
Contract: 12 months
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conducting a range of activities in line with corporate policies, standard procedures and established operational and financial control frameworks
- Implementing and adhering to US GAAP and local statutory GAAP processes, accounting policies and procedures
- Ensuring timely compliance with internal control policies and SoX environment, including timely completion of internal and external audit requests
- Preparing standard financial reports (e.g. balance sheets, income statements, monthly closing reports) according to US GAAP, Local Statutory GAAP or other regulatory requirements
- Compiling and analysing business information to prepare journal entries and document business transactions
- Identifying, researching and escalating accounting matters and/or process breakdowns that could result in financial misstatement and control exceptions or deficiencies
- Implementing financial statements, analytical review processes and reporting, including completion of required balance sheet account reconciliations and external reporting disclosure schedules
- Working with others to complete regulatory filings, internal audits, external audits, operational audits and other required activities
- Supporting the delivery of continuous improvement activities, including identification and escalation of identified issues
- Supporting the production and the standard library of management reports, with initial variance analysis and commentary within the agreed timeline
CANDIDATE PROFILE:
- Around 2 years of accounting experience; strongly preferred with knowledge of Fixed Assets, General ledger Accounting, Financial Reporting, which includes multinational group accounting focused on US GAAP.
- Exposure working in a matrix-based organisational hierarchy.
- Exposure working in multi-national Consumer Goods business environment and experience working in a global financial shared services centre supporting multiple countries
- Exposure with ERP (SAP preferred) and regional/global US GAAP based group reporting systems
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Fluent English language skills
- Good communication (written and verbal) skills
- Excellent problem solving, analytical and organizational skills
- Demonstrated ability to meet tight deadlines and prioritize workload
- Ability to adapt to changing work responsibilities across various accounting activities
- Ability to work well within a team and is proactive in managing and improving own work
- Self-starter mentality and proactive in initiating action steps
