Product Owner, Tax and Accounts Payable
The Product Owner, Tax and Accounts Payable is accountable for defining, delivering, and continuously improving technology products supporting McCormick’s Tax and Accounts Payable processes. This role works at the intersection of business strategy, process expertise, and technology delivery, translating business needs into a clear product vision, actionable roadmap, and prioritized backlog that enables measurable business value.
Reporting to the relevant technology or product leadership team, the Product Owner will act as the voice of the business and product, partnering closely with Tax, Accounts Payable, Finance, Procurement, IT, and external delivery partners. The role will ensure that product enhancements, integrations, and solutions are aligned with global and regional business priorities, compliant with regulatory requirements, and delivered in line with agile ways of working.
The Product Owner will pay particular attention to SAP-enabled Tax and Accounts Payable solutions, including related tools and integrations such as Vertex, SAP Document and Reporting Compliance, Ariba, Kofax, and Concur. They will help drive product strategy, improve process effectiveness, support global deployments, and ensure the product delivers sustainable value at scale.
Responsibilities
- Define the product vision, strategy, roadmap, and priorities for Tax and Accounts Payable technology products, ensuring alignment with business objectives, enterprise priorities, and product line strategy.
- Own and manage the product backlog, ensuring priorities are clearly defined, business value is understood, and delivery is focused on maximizing value, minimizing cost, and reducing risk.
- Translate business requirements into clear user stories, acceptance criteria, and functional requirements for delivery teams.
- Ensure backlog items meet the definition of ready before entering sprint planning, including appropriate sizing, completed user stories, and agreed acceptance criteria.
- Ensure delivered items meet the definition of done before sprint demo or release, confirming that business requirements, quality standards, and acceptance criteria have been met.
- Act as the product subject matter expert for Tax and Accounts Payable processes, systems, integrations, and related business capabilities.
- Partner with Tax, Accounts Payable, Finance, Procurement, IT, and regional business teams to identify opportunities for process improvement, automation, harmonization, and enhanced product value.
- Support the Product Line Strategy Owner in defining the broader product line roadmap by providing detailed product-level priorities, dependencies, risks, and opportunities.
- Lead and support agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, sprint reviews, and retrospectives, ensuring impediments are addressed and delivery processes are continuously improved.
- Work with delivery teams to ensure solutions are designed, built, tested, and deployed in line with business needs, technical standards, compliance requirements, and global template principles.
- Support full life-cycle implementations, enhancements, deployments, and ongoing product support across SAP and non-SAP systems.
- Provide clear communication of product value, features, benefits, delivery progress, risks, and dependencies to business stakeholders and leadership.
- Act as the voice of the product team to leadership, identifying challenges, risks, and opportunities to improve agile effectiveness and product delivery.
- Support issue resolution and problem-solving for production support, projects, and enhancements related to Tax and Accounts Payable solutions.
- Maintain awareness of current and emerging technologies, market trends, and best practices relevant to Tax, Accounts Payable, SAP, automation, and digital finance solutions.
- Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the Supervisor.
Candidate Profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, Finance, or a related discipline.
- Master’s degree or MBA would be an advantage.
- SAP, PMP, ITIL, Agile, Scrum Product Owner, or related certification would be an advantage.
- Experience developing, implementing, and supporting technology products in a complex enterprise environment.
- Experience acting as a Product Owner, Product Manager, Business Process Lead, Functional Lead, or similar role.
- Experience with full life-cycle implementations, preferably including global or multi-region deployments.
- Strong functional knowledge of Tax and Accounts Payable processes, including integration points with Procure to Pay, Order to Cash, Record to Report, and related finance processes.
- Strong understanding of SAP finance and logistics integration, including modules or process areas such as FI, SD, MM, PP, and related tax impacts.
- Experience with tax solutions such as Vertex and SAP Document and Reporting Compliance.
- Experience with Accounts Payable and invoice processing solutions such as Ariba and Kofax.
- Knowledge of Concur would be an advantage.
- Experience working with SAP and non-SAP systems in a global or multi-region environment.
- Experience operating in an Agile software development environment using tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, or similar.
- Demonstrated ability to create and drive product strategies, roadmaps, and delivery plans.
- Strong knowledge of product ownership practices, backlog management, agile delivery, business requirements definition, and solution design.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to lead structured analysis and resolution of complex business and technology issues.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions and explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to build strong relationships and interface effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Ability to influence across functional teams, manage competing priorities, and work effectively across multiple cultures and regions.
- Strong project delivery, process management, and stakeholder management skills.
- Proactive mindset with the ability to identify opportunities to improve existing processes, products, and ways of working.

Compensation: starting from PLN 17 850 gross per month.
Final salary will be determined as part of any final offer and will consider factors such as skills, education, role-specific experience, and internal equity among current employees.
