Position: Trade Compliance Analyst with French

Based: Łódź, Poland

Manage International Trade Compliance that helps reduce exposure from violations both in Import and Export with regard to products leaving/arriving EMEA to worldwide countries, in liaison with EU/UK/US regulations.

Responsible for the technical analysis and maintenance of Tariff Classifications, to provide guidance, knowledge of international trade treaties, trade documentation, Law and Customs related activities and a requirement to maintain communications with Legal departments and government agencies such as Customs.

Implement and manage Sanitary Compliance Framework associated with product/site registration, sanitary clearance at the border including its all prerequisites and communication with Sanitary Authorities.

 

 

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

INTERNATIONAL TRADE COMPLIANCE SCOPE

 

Contribute to International Trade Compliance strategies and provide guidance and strategic support to Managers, internal and external business stake holders that helps reduce risk and exposure from compliance violations for importing and exporting activities in EMEA. Responsibilities of this position include:

 

  • Analysis of Company Industrial and Retails products, spices, flavours, seasonings and batter/breader systems.
  • Product classification with commodity codes including tariff engineering.
  • Origin determination including preference eligibility verification enabling product cost optimization and duty savings.
  • Analysis of International Trade Compliance regulations and implementation of plan or action steps as necessary in liaison with other business functions (R&D, QA, Regulatory, Supply Chain, Finance, Import and Customer Services etc.).
  • Supply Chain scenarios advisory including document requirements, licenses, product / entity registrations and duty analysis for both import and export transactions.
  • Management of Customs procedures aiming at reduction / elimination of incurred costs related to duties and other levies and subsequent adherence to International Trade Compliance framework.
  • Management of Customs Brokerage framework.
  • Embargo and Boycott Language compliance.
  • Business Partners screening against Specially Designated Nationals and Sanctioned Party Lists.
  • Management and complete responsibility for all data processes for International Trade Compliance on all Lotus Notes Tools (NPC, RMN, MMDCR and C/S) in EMEA region.
  • GTS master data maintenance (including HTS and import / export license setup).
  • Communication with internal and external stakeholders including Governmental Agencies and Customs.
  • Recommendation and scoping of process improvements to ensure that the business is compliant and legal.
  • Contribute to overall team cost avoidance and savings delivery.
  • Management and delivery of Import and Export Audits including definition and deployment of mitigation actions to corresponding business areas (Import team, Customer Service team, Intercompany Supply Chain team etc.).
  • Provide support to Auditors and Compliance Managers in integrating Internal Audit processes into organization for Export and liaise with Import team.

 

 

SANITARY COMPLIANCE SCOPE

 

  • Analysis of Sanitary and Phytosanitary Compliance (Food Law) regulations and implementation of plan or action steps as necessary in liaison with other business functions (R&D, QA, Regulatory, Supply Chain, Finance, Import and Customer Services etc.).
  • Commercial / Financial Impact Analysis and communication to corresponding functions (internal / external).
  • Analysis of Company Industrial and Retail products and their subsequent classification against corresponding Sanitary or Phytosanitary Risk Category.
  • Management of import / export sanitary requirements including any prerequisites to facilitate the trade process of products under Sanitary Scope including detailed document advisory (increased document and registration requirements).
  • Management of Sanitary Framework for MKC sites (TRACES registration, Suppliers Declarations, Sanitary Data Base for corresponding finished products and concerned ingredients, Access Management for Governmental Systems).
  • Communication with internal and external stakeholders including Sanitary / Phytosanitary Governmental Agencies, and ownership for Vet relation.
  • Recommendation and scoping of process improvements to ensure that the business is compliant and legal.

 

 

CROSS BORDER ISSUE

 

  • Cross Border Issue resolution to ensure that any exposure to financial or legal risk is considered as part of international trade of sanitary / phytosanitary products.
  • “Just in time” support as a key prerequisite for the business continuity and mitigation of financial impact (demurrage spend).

 

 

CANDIDATE PROFILE

 

  • Graduate/ Master’s Degree level including 3-4 years of higher education, qualification in Foreign Trade, International Business, Major Technical, Food science, Chemistry, or related field.
  • (Preferably) 2 years minimum of experience in International Trade, Import, Export activity.
  • Experience in export/import regulations and US/EU Customs and compliance would be preferred.
  • 2+ years food industry experience would be preferred (prior knowledge in areas of seasonings, flavourings, and /or spices or food law compliance).
  • 3+ years’ experience in ERP, SAP & information systems
  • Fluency in both French & English (another European language would be beneficial)
  • The role involves occasional travelling within Europe
  • Ability in implementing relevant processes & influences others to ensure understanding & compliance.
  • Ability in conducting analyses and understands diverse information.
  • Good verbal and written communication- able to communicate up, down and across.
  • Able to work as part of team. Shown by example of previously working as part of a team/role and be able to demonstrate outcome.
  • Proactive and challenging personality. Demonstrate proven challenges that have been faced.
  • PC Literate- Experience with WORD, EXCEL and POWERPOINT all to intermediate level.
  • Organisational skills- Able to prioritise workload and have the ability to be adaptable.
  • Good Numerical skills – able to breakdown the data and analyse. Have the ability to calculate effect of change.
  • Thoroughness and attention to detail required.
