Product Development Technologist, SEA
The Product Development Technologist will lead and manage product development projects across the SEA region for strategic FMCG and Chicken Processor customers. This role focuses on wet condiments, coating systems, and seasoning technologies, and acts as the key technical lead responsible for end-to-end project delivery, from concept development to commercialization. The goal is to deliver high-quality, commercially viable innovations that meet customer briefs, timelines, and technical standards. Key responsibilities include interfacing with customer innovation teams, enhancing product quality, and driving cost optimization through CCI (Comprehensive Continuous Improvement) and DTV (Design to Value) for Flavour Solution Segment
KEY ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead and manage end-to-end product development for key FMCG accounts and Chicken Processor customers, with focus on condiments, seasonings, coatings, and marinades. Leverage DTV (Design to Value) principles to ensure that each project from concept to commercialization is delivered in alignment with assigned briefs with right the first-time mindset. Responsibilities include developing product prototypes and processes, conducting stability and shelf-life studies, and ensuring that all new commercial products are fit for scalable manufacturing.
Drive impeccable R&D project management to achieve NPD targets, accelerate internal flavor utilization, and strengthen our competitive advantage in flavour solutions. Ensure product development projects are completed on time and in full. Lead Design to Value (DTV) initiatives to support Comprehensive Continuous Improvement (CCI) programs, delivering margin-enhancing innovations and proactively managing both existing product improvements and new product development (NPD) for customers.
Lead proactive product demonstrations and presentations on new products, innovations, and consumer/market trends. Engage with key customers through site visits to discuss projects and provide technical support. Develop and expand the opportunity pipeline by positioning McCormick as a trusted partner. Enhance customer awareness and understanding of McCormick’s value-added solutions to build competitive advantage.
Prepare raw material and product specifications for NPD projects, including ingredient statements, nutritional information, labeling, packaging requirements, and other relevant technical details. Provide support for HACCP, GHP, HALAL, and food quality audits in alignment with R&D procedures
Transfer Technical knowledge of new or modified processes and product improvements to QA, Production, and relevant teams to ensure products meet customer expectations. Lead production trials and first-time commercial runs, including setting up process instructions and technical documentation. Provide technical support to cross-functional teams to ensure process consistency, repeatability, and product safety
Additional/Secondary Responsibilities
Engages with suppliers and ingredient experts to stay updated on emerging products, technologies, and innovations.
Evaluate, source, and select raw materials that comply with regulatory requirements, are readily available, and cost-effective, considering minimum order quantities (MOQ) and lead times for all new raw materials.
