Product Development Technologist


Mccormick (Thailand) Ltd.

Under guidance and supervision of Manager/Senior CCI Technologist, Product Development Technologist will support product/process development projects (Comprehensive Continuous Improvement (CCI) projects) in relation to business and customer requirements.

             The role will conduct of technical validation and development for activities related to CCI such as qualification of alternative raw material, reformulating for cost saving objective, SLOB mitigation, consolidation of raw materials, improvement of recipe process to increase business efficiency, and process development projects.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Qualify new raw material and ensure that it meets technical functionality requirements, maintains finished product quality and food safety standards, as well as cost-effective in relation to CCI project and support business needs.

This may include working with R&D team members - sensory, packaging and QA to map out appropriate technical validation processes as directed by Manager/Senior CCI Technologist

  • Reformulating or modify existing product for cost saving objective while maintain product quality and food safety standards. Including prepares samples to customer according to McCormick business processes if required.
  • Works with cross-functional team members such as Procurement, QA, Regulatory, and Supply Chain to assess and select new alternative material with compliance to regulations both Thai FDA and customer requirements
  • Ensures any raw material or formula changes are managed and documented as per McCormick business process this includes activities such as BOM updates, process changes, specification changes, ingredient statements, nutritional composition, and labeling
  • Scales up formulation using alternative materials or reformulate to factory-scale and supervises trials as needed
  • Provides technical support to R&D and cross functional team members as required
  • Maintaining and update Raw material database



Qualifications and Experiences

  • English Language (Written and Spoken) proficiency at a professional business level.
  • Bachelor’s degree of Food Science/Food Technology/ Process Engineering or related.
  • 5 years of relevant in product development preferable experience related to poultry, coating and/or condiment business
  • Ability to "think on your feet" during product development and plant trials
  • Requires self-motivation and initiative.  Able to work within a team.  Organized with good time management and an ability to cope with multiple tasks/projects.  Strong attention to detail and excellent record keeping. 
  • Ability to communicate technical information clearly and in a simple and easy to understand manner
  • Competent in the use of Excel, Word, Power Point and Outlook with an understanding of basic statistics
  • Must be able to logically plan out the technical process for new product development to ensure quality and food safety are maintained.
  • Preferable to be familiar with risk assessment processes and able to evaluate benefits vs possible risks/issues and identify ways to mitigate risk during development process
  • Sensory training would be beneficial
  • Able to work at Amata I.E. Phase10 Phanthong, Chonburi.
