Under the general direction of the Supplier Quality Manager, this position is responsible for the application of Vendor Management programs related to supplier risk mitigation and supplier and raw material information to ensure compliance with corporate and regulatory standards. This position's primary focus is the US and Canadian operating units.


Key Responsibilities



  • General activities include the management and application of processes, procedures, and tools related to the control of raw material data and documentation in computer systems (WinCHEM and SAP).


  • Ingredient Category & Associated Vendor Management - Provide raw material technical support which includes pertinent vendor performance and raw material data analyses for selected raw material categories. Work with the business units to resolve issues related to raw materials and vendors.


  • Projects - Management of assigned projects that support the comprehensive continuous improvement goals of the Quality Assurance function and the Company.


  • Provides technical support for the management, development, and quality of raw material specifications for the US and Canadian operations.


  • Special Teams - Leads or participates in various cross-functional teams in support of the Vendor Management group.

Level of Education and Discipline

Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Chemistry, Biology, Microbiology or similar technical field required

Certification and/or Licenses

None required

Experience - functional/industry/commercial knowledge, business acumen

6+ years relevant experience required Prior work experience in food industry preferred Familiarity with U.S. Food, Drug and Cosmetic Laws and Regulations and their application to spices, seasonings, flavorings and extracts Ability to lead cross functional/cross divisional teams. Knowledge of raw materials, food processes, and food safety and quality systems programs. Understanding of how sub-function integrates within Corporate QA. Basic understanding of the commercial environment and customers' requirements and expectations.

Interpersonal Skills - leadership, interactions, communication, influence

Sound and comprehensive communication and diplomacy skills are required to exchange complicated information. Strong communication and diplomacy skills are required to guide, influence, and convince others, in particular colleagues in other areas/departments and suppliers. External vendors (US & International) - Daily Division Management - Regularly Plant Management - Occasional Sourcing - Frequent
