Senior Buyer

POSITION OVERVIEW:

 

This role is responsible for the operational support of key ISEA raw materials categories as well as ISEA purchasing of goods/services with an annual spend of up to 22$ million.  Operationally, will identify and deliver raw material cost savings and make efficiency and cost improvements to overall supply chain. Will manage work process complexities, specification impacts, and financial implications; continuously identify and implement supply chain improvements; leverage supplier capabilities to bring innovation to the business.

 

Sourcing responsibilities will include the development of ISEA procurement strategies and programs to optimize cost and supplier service levels while mitigating supply chain, quality and financial risks. Sourcing responsibilities will also include the identification of Purpose Led Performance opportunities for the goods/services purchased and development of implementation and communication plans to enable a key McCormick corporate objective.

 

 KEY RESPONSIBLITIES:

 

  • Management of assigned category of materials for ISEA including market understanding, supporting sourcing strategy development and getting market information.
  • Execution of category strategies to support the business growth and strategy via NPD support on sourcing, pricing discussions and maintaining data on NPD pricing for SEA
  • Leads supplier performance management through the negotiations of procured materials and services to assure optimal TCO (Cost, Quality, Delivery, Innovation) achieved.
  • Develops and implements strategies, including supply chain efficiencies, to assure lowest overall cost while mitigating risk to the Corporation
  • Engages with senior procurement personnel to ensure category alignment with regional strategies.
  • Participates in the financial planning and forecasting process as well as provides periodic relevant market information and dynamics to internal stakeholders.
  • Provides information to Regional Procurement & Supply and Quality Issues; actively involved team participating in Supply & Quality issues
  • Develops and documents in-depth knowledge of markets, supply chain, and suppliers.
  • Assists with make-buy decisions; conducts formal presentations as well as coordinates and conducts supplier reviews.
  • Regular assessment and analysis of moderately complex business opportunities.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, Business, Finance, Accounting or applicable field of study
  • 5+ years in Purchasing/Supply Chain environment with operational process experience.
  • 3+ yrs project management, execution of or participation in large, multiple or cross-functional projects. Project management/process improvement.
  • 2+ yrs managing, leading developing dynamic work teams.
  • 3+ years purchasing experience in food category and agricultural commodities                                                             
  • Thorough knowledge of industries for assigned categories. Technical awareness in assigned categories. McCormick product and business knowledge.
  • Systems capabilities to maximize supplier performance and negotiating leverage.
  • Ability to deal with diverse and sometimes conflicting priorities.
  • Sound and comprehensive communication and diplomacy skills are required to exchange complicated information.

 

 

 PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Experience in development and implementation of pipeline/ supply chain efficiency projects
