This new hire will work at McCormick Atlanta Plant, located at in Atlanta, GA. The Sensory Lab Technician will report to a Quality Team Manager. POSITION OVERVIEW:

 

Under the general direction of the Quality Team Manager the qualified candidate will be responsible for performing sensory testing for quality control of raw materials, in-process materials, and finished goods. Participates in investigations and studies to determine cause, effect and corrective actions required to resolve deviation from quality standards. routine sampling and inspection of material. The employee will adhere to safety procedures, ensure a safe work environment, meet and/or exceed product quality expectations, and assist in achieving process reliability goals.

 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

• Support all sensory testing including test set up requirements and sample preparation.

• Support the analysis & interpretation of data, updating data trackers & providing data summaries as required.

• Own the Shelf Life program.

• Support the Sensory screening program and manage set up and execution of internal and external employee/panel screening.

• Support Sensory & Consumer Insights activities as required.

• Manage the hygiene requirements and maintenance of laboratory environment.

• Work closely with the Sensory Scientist/Product Development to manage for any ad hoc sensory related activities.

• Manage sample storage as well as laboratory supplies.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

• HS diploma of GED • A background in Food Science, Sensory/Consumer Science, or related discipline

• Minimum of 1-2 years of related experience (manufacturing experience is acceptable). 

• Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and Good Laboratory Practices (GLPs). 

• Knowledge of PC software and data entry experience

• Ability to work well under pressure, while maintaining multiple priorities; able to work with minimal supervision. Excellent written and oral communication skills 

• Color Vision (ability to detect color) required. This is due to the need to compare color difference in product on daily basis.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

• 4-year college degree in science (food science, chemistry etc.) or a 2-year science diploma and 2 years relevant technical experience or Five years relevant technical experience.

• Experience working in food manufacturing.

• Working knowledge of statistics preferred.
