POSITION OVERVIEW:

Under the general supervision of the Director of Operations Finance, this position is responsible for all the cost and accounting activities for the Atlanta plant as well as partnering with the Plant Leadership Team (PLT) to provide overall financial guidance. Responsibilities include significant analysis of actual results, preparation and communication of financial forecasts and responsibility for a portion of divisional manufacturing budgets. This role may also lead cross-functional projects and standardization efforts in certain areas across the Operations Finance Team.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide guidelines for approaches to cost analyses used in business decisions.
  • Perform financial analysis as assigned for use in the development of business strategies and tactics. Submitting financial findings and interpretations for review and assisting management in the development of recommendations to business issues.
  • Assist in the implementation and interpretation of plant metrics and critical indicator reports. Quantify the financial impact of the opportunity or issues resulting from those interpretations, including impacts of operational decisions.
  • Participate in the development of financial forecasts and related budgets, considering alternative scenarios as appropriate and performing variance analysis to the forecasts and budgets.
  • Prepare economic forecasts of business conditions and trends impacting the manufacturing site and drawing relevant conclusions.
  • Develop and analyze standard product costs using labor and machine rates as well as activity-based costing & analyzing actual to standard variances.
  • Assist in the identification, validation and monitoring of CCI (Comprehensive Continuous Improvement) programs. Actively participate on Continuous Improvement teams providing financial support and insight.
  • Participate in the definition of assumptions for the quantification, analysis and audits of investments. Includes capital investments, with measurement of return, and balancing inventory holding costs and operational performance.
  • Maintain an effective control environment.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or a related field
  • Minimum 5 years of accounting and/or financial analysis experience
  • Minimum 2 years' experience participating on projects
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a demonstrated experience working across functions and interacting with all levels of the organization
  • Excellent analytical skills and problem-solving capabilities
  • Proven knowledge of financial accounting standards and GAAP
  • Excellent theoretical and practical knowledge of different financial and analytical techniques and the capability to plan work and meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to be a dynamic self-starter, work independently and apply sound judgment to solve complex problems with incomplete and/or ambiguous information and proactively initiate action steps
  • Excellent communication and organization skills
  • Ability to propose and implement improvements to systems, methods of work and analysis methods and contribute to ensuring that they are continuously adapted to the business requirements
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • MBA
  • CPA
  • Minimum 2 years in manufacturing (cost) accounting
  • Experience leading or managing projects
  • Experience leading large complex projects and supporting finance initiatives with the business functions
  • SAP experience
