POSITION OVERVIEW:
Under the direction of the Continuous Improvement (CI) Manager, the Process Engineer is responsible for the overall development and maintenance of documentation that captures best operating practices in the plant. The key objective of this role is to reduce variation and losses in operating methods thereby improving the reliability and repeatability of processes. The Process Engineer will work within McCormick’s High Performance Organization (HPO) framework utilizing Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) methodologies to lead teams to standardize processes and procedures for the plant, including, but not limited to, processing, packaging, maintenance, quality, safety, and engineering departments.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
This role will work with Department Managers to ensure that the formal change management process is followed for process and equipment changes. The Process Engineer ensures that changes are appropriately evaluated prior to the change.

Supports new plant startups providing personal technical expertise and process team support.

Maintains EEM documents for new projects under the direction of the Plant Engineer. Critically analyzes equipment manuals. Works with engineering and maintenance teams to set appropriate documentation standards for vendors and contractors that will facilitate ease of use in developing training documentation for end users.

Provides process engineering support and project engineering guidance to filling, processing, packaging, and/or support departments under the direction of Department Manager(s).

Focuses on cost reduction programs, process improvements, and engineering service requests as well as evaluation and recommendation of process capital improvements and automation.

Manages and maintains the productivity and reliability modules within the site’s loss intelligence system (Redzone) to continuously improve process reliability (PR). Monitors and communicates changes and updates to the loss intelligence system. Analyzes and/or reports loss data to gather insights for process improvement activities.

Focuses on improving Standard Operating Procedures for Lubrication, Centerlines, Preventative Maintenance, Autonomous Maintenance, Focused Improvement, Lean Manufacturing, Production Systems, Maintenance Systems, Engineering Systems, and Quality Systems.

Creates and Maintains Standard Control Procedures, Baseline Audit Sheets, Changeover Documents, Shutdown/Startup procedures, and Operational Cleaning procedures. Maintains documentation annually for ongoing systems.

Leads Project Teams and Conducts Line Capability studies. Assists with coaching and developing technicians and leaders to improve technical skills and to build capability. Forms project teams to attack a specific defect/loss or to support a specific project/initiative. Ensures uniformity across all departments and shifts.

Expected to be current on industry standards and latest developments. Provides feedback on opportunities, offers solutions, and recommends improvements within the department. Applies best practices and ensures that they are approved and documented.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- BSc in Engineering; (Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial preferred).
- Food Science Certification and/or licensing preferred

One (1) year of relevant production/engineering/plant operations experience preferred

Knowledge and experience with data analysis is required.

Experience developing and writing procedures with cross functional teams preferred.

Interpersonal Skills - facilitative coaching and mentoring leadership, interactions, communication, and influence. This position requires excellent cross functional communication skills.

Proficiency in the application of statistical methods, lean manufacturing, and TPM preferred.

Mastery in MS Office (Excel, Access, Project, PowerPoint, Word) required.

Tableau, Power BI, SAP, Redzone, PLC, and CAD experience preferred.
The successful candidate will be very detail and data oriented, have strong interpersonal and teamwork abilities, demonstrated organizational skills and must be a self-starter, who is able to work independently.
