POSITION OVERVIEW
The Pre-Weigh Crew Leader plays a critical role in both production performance and team development. As a working leader, this role balances hands-on involvement in Pre-Weigh operations with the responsibility of guiding, coaching, and motivating team members. The Crew Leader ensures the Pre-Weigh team consistently meets objectives in safety, quality, sanitation, GMP compliance, customer service, and process reliability, while fostering a positive, engaged, and growth-oriented work environment.
This position requires stepping in to perform technician duties when needed, while also driving team development through coaching, mentoring, and continuous improvement. The Crew Leader is expected to lead cross-functional problem-solving efforts, support the creation and auditing of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and identify process improvements that enhance efficiency and reliability.

KEY RESPONSIBILITES
Leadership & Team Development
- Distribute daily workload and assign tasks to meet production goals.
- Lead by example in performing Pre-Weigh Technician duties and modeling safe, high-quality work practices.
- Coach, mentor, and develop team members to strengthen technical skills and leadership capability.
- Schedule/approve vacation and arrange manpower coverage to ensure operational continuity.
- Lead team meetings focused on production tracking, problem solving, safety, and professional growth.
- Build accountability and engagement through teamwork, clear communication, and shared ownership.
Operations & Technical
- Operate and oversee pre-weigh batch processing equipment, following batch cards, SOPs, and recipes.
- Verify, weigh, and stage raw materials; record data in SAP to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Support troubleshooting efforts, investigate root causes, and implement corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate production records and communicate variances to leadership.
- Perform or support equipment checks, sanitation, housekeeping, and report breakdowns or hazards.
- Ensure all product meets quality, labeling, and packaging standards.
Safety, Quality & Continuous Improvement
- Lead plant safety initiatives and ensure compliance with Food Safety, Defense, and GMP standards.
- Train team members on safe work practices, forklift operation, and PPE use (including respirators).
- Facilitate and support Continuous Improvement and McCormick’s High-Performance Work System.
- Participate in cross-functional problem solving and continuous improvement projects.
- Audit and improve SOPs, champion best practices, and drive operational efficiency.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 1+ year of pre-weigh experience
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Fork Truck Certification
- Thorough understanding of SAP
- Valid Driver’s license and transportation to travel between other McCormick facilities
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in written form
- Ability to facilitate teamwork
- Ability to effectively run meetings
- Ability to work overtime/weekends as required
- 1+ years PreWeigh training experience
- PAPR/Respirator use may be required
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 3–5 years of manufacturing or operations experience.
- At least 1–3 years of leadership experience (crew leader, lead operator, or equivalent).
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with ability to drive root cause analysis.
- Advanced SAP knowledge
The pay range for this position is $28.12 - $42.19.
