Preweigh Technician I-1st Shift

POSITION OVERVIEW

Under general supervision, operate batch processing equipment that is equipped with a manufacturing recipe management system, batch cards, recipe sheets, SOPs, and standard work instructions. The nature of the work is team-based and requires a total task approach. The incumbent will learn and perform assigned tasks depending on the specific manufacturing technology that is utilized across our manufacturing sites. This role will contribute to the achievement of company initiatives to meet our safety, quality, process reliability, customer service, cost, and innovation goals. Work in a safe and environmentally responsible manner while operating, monitoring, and controlling equipment, systems, and processes associated with dry blending and pre-weighing.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Pull and stage a variety of raw materials for the production team according to batch card specifications/process instructions.
  • Coordinate with the production and warehouse teams daily concerning any raw material variances.
  • Return remaining raw materials after Pre-weigh processes are complete according to warehouse specifications.
  • Follow all instructions on production cards and daily schedule
  • Keep accurate production records and accurate reporting in SAP and report information daily
  • Inspect raw materials, in-process, and finished goods for proper weight, color, overall appearance, texture, labeling, packaging, and correct/report defects
  • Coordinate with supervisors daily concerning any scheduling variances and process improvements
  • Perform proper sanitation, housekeeping, and safety procedures
  • Help maintain equipment, reporting, and/or resolving machinery breakdowns or problems
  • Operate Fork Truck in a safe manner
  • Participate in all team/department meetings
  • Actively participate in Continuous Improvement initiatives
  • Other duties as assigned

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to operate a forklift and other mechanical equipment such as pumps, scales, and dumpsters
  • Ability to perform foundational math equations
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • High school degree or equivalent and
  • Basic computer knowledge in the form of data entry & proficiency in RF scanning
  • Ability to work in a dusty environment with strong odors and high noise/decibel levels
  • Ability to work in an environment with frequent exposure to chemicals and cleaning agents
  • Ability to work in warm/hot environments or warehouse conditions
  • Adaptable to working overtime on short notice and on weekends
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Attention to detail is required
  • PAPR/ Respirator use required
  • Other duties as assigned

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience working in food manufacturing
  • Exposure to TPM or lean manufacturing principles
  • 3 years in a manufacturing environment preferred
