Chief Accountant
Main Responsibilities
- Hold full responsibility for maintaining complete and accurate accounting records under Romanian GAAP
- Own and manage monthly, quarterly and annual local closing process
- Prepare and sign mid-year and annual financial statements in compliance with local regulations
- Oversee Corporate Income Tax calculations and ensure timely and accurate tax filings
- Ensure full VAT compliance including preparation and submission of VAT returns and ANAF reporting
- Oversee statutory reporting in accordance with local GAAP requirements (e.g. National Bank of Romania, National Institute of Statistics)
- Represent the company in front of tax authorities during inspections and statutory reviews
- Deliver accurate and timely monthly and quarterly US GAAP reporting in compliance with corporate deadlines and standards
- Prepare current and deferred tax calculations under US GAAP
- Prepare group reporting package for consolidated financial statements
- Identify, monitor and reconcile differences between Romanian GAAP and US GAAP
- Cooperate and support internal and external audits, ensuring delivery within agreed budgets and timelines
- Supervise fixed asset accounting
- Coordinate and oversee inventory stock count
- Support the regional tax team in the management of transfer pricing documentation and CbC reporting
- Develop and improve local policies and procedures including SOX controls included
- Review and approve account reconciliations
Candidates Profile
- Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline
- Certified Accountant qualification (CECCAR membership) – strongly preferred
- Solid knowledge of Romanian Accounting Law and tax legislation
- Progressive experience in accounting and financial reporting
- Proven experience in managing statutory audits
- Strong background in corporate income tax and VAT compliance
- Previous experience with US GAAP reporting – considered a strong advantage
- Experience in payroll processing and reporting - considered a plus
- High level of accountability and ownership
- Strong ethical standards and internal control mindset
- Excellent Microsoft Offices skills
- Excellent problem solving, analytical and organizational skills
- Fluency in Romanian and English
- Prepare and oversee monthly payroll processing and payroll-related declarations
