IT Business Relationship Manager

This position will be located at 24 Schilling Road, Hunt Valley, Maryland. This position will report to the IT Business Relationship Director, PLM, QA & Regulatory.

With focus on the global Quality and Regulatory business, this role will be responsible for formulating and defining complex information systems scope and objectives through research, analysis, testing and fact-finding combined with a comprehensive understanding of business systems and industry requirements. The Quality and Regulatory consultant serves as a proactive partner to the business and as part of a global team to enable business through technology in an integrated enterprise systems environment.



  • Serves as primary liaison between business users and technology group for system implementation and maintenance.
  • Effectively communicates Quality and Regulatory complex concepts and solutions to all levels of the organization including senior executive level, and C-level.  Provides facilitation of decisions and consensus building throughout the organization and project teams.
  • Influences the functional Long-Term plan with a technology acumen and may influence the IT business plan. Acts as work stream leader from start to finish with accountability for successful solution delivery within area of responsibility. Fosters and maintains good relationships with business partners and IT colleagues to meet expected customer service levels.
  • Responsible for business need solutioning, including solution design, proposals and end-to-end business process engineering and requirements mapping in the SAP platforms as well as non-SAP solutions supporting Quality and Regulatory business areas.  Designs and develops IT solutions (integrated process, applications, data, and technology) to business problems in alignment with the organization IT direction and standards.
  • Drives business process transformation and continuous improvement with key business partners and other McCormick Technology solution teams.
  • Designs major aspects of the architecture of the Quality and Regulatory SAP applications, including components such as user interface, middleware and infrastructure integration points.  Also designs major aspects of critical point solutions for Quality and Regulatory business processes and functions.
  • Works across solution teams to ensure proper system/data integration.
  • Champions and develops innovative IT principles and ideas.
  • Partners with Project Managers and Scrum teams to ensure delivery aligns with project objectives.  Adheres to project timelines to complete tasks on time, budget and aligned with business user expectations.
  • Provides leadership over program standards and performance as it pertains to solution design concepts, deployment, and steady-state, in Quality and Regulatory areas such as Quality Management Systems, Supplier Quality Management, Environmental Monitoring, Product Compliance Checks, Product Safety Data, Specification Management, Global Label Management and Manufacturing Execution Systems.  
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.  Master’s degree preferred.
  • 15+ years of experience working with IT in SAP QM and SAP RD environments as well as non-SAP solutions focused in Quality and Regulatory business processes.  
  • Minimum of 7 full life-cycle implementations, preferably including 5 with global deployment
  • Expertise in solution design & delivery across multiple processes and SAP modules such as QM, MM, PP, RD as well as project management, process management and business systems requirements definition
  • Demonstrated ability to lead in problem solving process for projects and support
  • Demonstrated functional and/or leadership experience outside of own area of expertise
  • Ability to build relationships, interface effectively with all levels of the organization, including senior executive level, and C-level communications
  • Ability to influence across functional teams and manage relationships across multiple cultures
  • Excellent organizational and verbal communication skills; outstanding problem-solving skills and sound judgment
  • Capable of influencing, assigning work and monitoring follow-through and output
  • Demonstrated written communication skills, specifically, executive presentations, documentation of system design, configuration, and process specifications
  • Expertise in strategic planning, tactical execution, project management, change and process management, and business systems requirements definition
  • Knowledge of Quality Management business processes such as Audits and CAPA, Inspections and SPC, Environmental Monitoring, Complaint and Deviation Management, and Quality by Design.   
  • Knowledge of Product Regulatory business processes such as Compliance by Design, Supplier and Customer Collaboration, Label Management, Specification Management and Product Compliance and Safety.
  • Knowledge of SAP system configuration design, unit testing, integration testing, user acceptance and deployment, post implementation process and applications support activities.
  • Knowledge of SAP S4 Hana, SAP QM and SAP RD



  • Experience in Food and Beverage, Pharmaceutical or Life Sciences industries          
  • Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, Business Analytics
  • ITIL, PMP, or other advanced certifications
