This new hire will work in Reginal Distribution Center , located at 1550, Hwy 302 in Byhalia, Missisippi. The Distrubution Center Manager will report to a Distrubution Center Manager III.

Position Overview:

Under general supervision of the VP of Mfg. and Distribution (CPD), provides general direction for all RDC warehousing activities associated with shipping, receiving, warehousing and inventory management. Provides oversight of value-added services operation. OGSM's (objectives, goals, strategies, measures), plans for continuous improvement and creates new and innovative strategies necessary to consistently meet our customer's expectations. Responsible for budget activities for all RDC cost centers. Serves as a liaison to business units, functional areas and business partners. Leads the development of a high performance work environment. Provides mentoring and coaching for exempt management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Meet or exceed distribution center goals for customer service, cost, quality, safety and sanitation. Provide for continuous operations improvement to include: Cost per unit shipped, safety, sanitation, accuracy of deliveries/records/reports, quality measurements, operational efficiencies, cultural development. Maintain positive employee relations environment, ensuring utilization of a participative approach in all areas. Establish procedures, standards, and controls in all warehousing areas.
  • Leads HPWS throughout the warehouse. Monitors all key performance indicators. Responsible for developing action plans to meet targets. Formulates strategic direction for the RDC, while building commitment to common objectives. Identifies appropriate DC management structure and necessary staffing levels. Develops and motivates Team Managers, Crew Leaders and Distribution Technicians. Ensures adherence to work system models. Provides coaching and development plans to ensure continuity of work system and total system reliability. Develops and manages departmental budget. Supports safety and sanitation initiatives.
  • Establishes appropriate operational standards. Plans for daily operations and provides for necessary controls. Ensures completion of outbound schedules. Ensures compliance to specifications and all documented protocols. Provides necessary support and direction to employees to ensure safety and sanitation objectives are met. Plans for continuous improvements for warehousing operations.
  • Plans and executes tactical and strategic initiatives with senior management, staff and customers for RDC customer base.

Required Qualifications:

  • GED in High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor's Degree in engineering, business or related field desirable.
  • Six+ years experience; Two or more years leadership responsibility. Responsible for management decisions and activities. Supervises the work of all exempt employees both managers and independent contributors in all departments. Has full responsiblities including hiring, firing, performance appraisals, and pay reviews. Able to sucessfully prioritize when faced with requests, demands, and deadlines of warehousing and logistics to meet customer demands.
  • Must identify and understand personal values of superiors, subordinates, peers, and others. Prepares thoroughly for negotiations. Handles confrontations with tact and dipomacy.Daily interaction with senior management, internal and external customers. Weekly tactical and strategic planning sessions with other McCormick distribution senior management. Monthly strategic planning sessions with other McCormick distribution facilities staff. 
  • Broad knowledge of the field with strong leadership skills Resolves issues and contributes to business unit/area development. Excellent communication, presentation, and project management skill


Preferred Qualifications:

  • BA in High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor's Degree in engineering, business or related field desirable.
