 Mojave Foods Corporation, a subsidiary of McCormick & Company, Incorporated, a nationwide manufacturer & distributor of Hispanic Consumer Products is seeking a full time  Materials Department Manager located in its Manufacturing Plant in Commerce City, CA.  This person will report to the Plant Manager.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

Under the general direction of the Plant Manager or equivalent, provides strategic leadership for a function within a high performance plant/facility. Has overall accountability for the performance of the function and the impact on the larger operating unit.  Leads team managers and/or staff to achieve exceptional business results through the development of people and continuous improvement of manufacturing and supply chain processes. Participates as an active member of the facility leadership team and ensures that strategies across functions are aligned to create common objectives for all departments and achieve plant/facility goals. Manage and develop direct reports.

As a member of the Plant Leadership Team, requires comprehensive understanding of the concepts and principles within their own functional area and also requires basic knowledge of these elements in other relevant functional areas in order to participate in the resolution of issues that have an impact beyond the area or impact multiple areas.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Directs and administers some or all of the following: purchasing, production scheduling and control, inventory and warehouse stock control, warehousing, fleet management and shipping.
  • Collaborate with the Management team to plan, forecast and replenish McCormick products for customers.
  • Work in concert with Customer Service, Logistics, Production Locations, Sales, and QA to provide effective and efficient service to customers.
  • Manages Production Planning and Scheduling to ensure the smoothest production curve, while maintaining a high customer service level.
  • Responsible for short-range and long range production and material planning
  • Responsible for the overall control of inventory levels to maintain pre-determined management goals and objectives. Balance inventory, service and cost objectives, drive collaborative supply chain improvements and support Customer Service. 
  • The incumbent will be responsible for all replenishment activities and working with internal and external departments to meet customer demand. 
  • Will manage the overall control and movement of materials in and out of the plant location. 
  • In partnership with Production and Quality, facilitates the resolution of material issues. Additionally, coordinates Plant with HQ S&OP functions to assure highest levels of customer service, while balancing cost of inventory and line efficiency.
  • Utilizes the 6 HPWS Systems (Goal Setting, Performance Management, Problem Solving & Decision Making, Training & Development, Information Systems, Rewards & Recognitions) to empower and develop teams using established HPWS systems, core beliefs, guiding principles and attributes.
  • Identifies improvement opportunities, develops and implements improvements to processes

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a Technical Field (i.e. Food Science, Engineering, Chemistry, etc.) or in a Supply Chain discipline required
  • Minimum of 7-10 years functional/leadership experience
  • Demonstrated significant and relevant skills and results in functional area
  • Demonstrated experience developing, coaching, and motivating employees in a team based environment required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills necessary to effectively interact with all levels within the facility and organization required
  • Strong communication and diplomacy skills are required to guide and influence others. 
  • Leadership of exempt Team Managers or equivalent to achieve common objectives.  May interface with external parties as representative of the plant/facility.   
  • Strong cross-functional strategic leadership, communication, and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to translate strategy into actionable information in small or large groups in a clear, concise, and professional manner.  Ability to influence upwards.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills required
  • Proficiency with MS Excel, Word, SAP or another ERP system required (SAP preferred)
  • Food, beverage and/or pharmaceutical manufacturing (GMP environment) experience preferred
  • Experience in Transportation and another area of Supply Chain outside of distribution, preferred
