QA LEAD- 2nd Shift

Job Summary

The Quality Control Lead position exists to provide direction, support & training to Quality Control Inspectors concerning all issues, resolutions & follow-up for sanitation issues and ensure that all raw material being received meets Quality and Sanitation specifications as defined by the Company.                                                                                                                                         

 

Responsibilities:

  • Audit reports to ensure that Quality Control Inspectors are maintaining the Company’s quality and sanitation specifications for all raw material received and product.Provide direction to inspectors if not meeting specifications.
  • Communicate with Production and Purchasing any product discrepancies such as on hold for fumigation, rework or defective.
  • Enter into computer all product on hold and released from HD Location on a daily basis.
  • Train new Quality Control Inspectors on Company’s quality, sanitation and safety specifications and requirements as well as all FDA standards.
  • Ensure that new product meets all taste, color, texture, and supplier specifications.
  • Follow up with purchasing on all defective products received.  Completion of  required paperwork for timely returns of defective product to vendors.
  • Must comply to and keep current on all Kosher Certifications.
  • Audit the Pre – Operational Report for accuracy.
  • Ensure that any defective quality or sanitation conditions have been reported correctly by the  Quality Control Inspector. Make certain that there has been follow-up to these reports.
  • Maintain all Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) for all Chemicals used at Mojave foods.
  • Assist Quality Assurance Manager on special projects.
  • Follow all safety and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s).

   

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred. 
  • Quality Assurance experience in food processing/manufacturing strongly required.
  • Will consider a combination of formal education and Quality Assurance experience as equivalent to a high school diploma.
  • Knowledge of product and raw materials used is strongly preferred. 
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to facilitate teamwork required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in written form. 
  • Proven leadership experience required. 
  • Ability to perform sensory testing on all products, including taste testing of product.  Ability to distinguish color & aroma variations.
  • Computer skills highly preferred (need ability to create reports).
  • Bilingual Spanish preferred.
