Overview

Under the direction of the Engineering Manager, the Manufacturing Technical Leader will be directly responsible for the management and leadership of site start up plan, including the analysis and optimization of production process and implementation of new equipment and product upgrades.  
This position will lead data-driven operational improvements, start-up of production systems and the design of new technologies. The role will also lead and coordinate planning efforts between the plant and other functions, including Sales, Marketing, Distribution, Logistics and Product Development for new product initiatives, working towards resolving staffing, equipment, and logistical issues for all new products produced at site.

Job Duties 

  • Designs executes and reports MAC (new product) trials against aligned success criteria leading one direct report
  • Partners with commercialization, business and plan on strategic plan for non-products/like extensions/component changes
  • Responsible for start-up activities using EEM tools and methodology, including center lines.
  • Responsible for improvement of losses related to product performance
  • Responsible for gathering plant cost and feasibility information to accurately and quickly respond to Project Information Forms (detailed cost and feasibility for new products)
  • Develops and implements Change Plans following the Change Management process for MACs and Projects
  • Develops and owns the start-up communication and staffing plans   
  • Complete technical documentation and updates SOPs. Provides input and into design bases and equipment specifications to ensure technical correctness. Completes statistical batch analysis during Verification
  • Ensures compliance with AM and PM standards and is responsible for the spare parts process to ensure availability by Commissioning. Responsible for Technology, Training and Transfer activities, a successful qualification process working with T&D lead
  • Shares and applies best practices in the areas of resources, tools and expertise relating to process improvement/cost avoidance/cost reduction initiatives.
  • Partners with the central procurement function to ensure that all the site service functions are at the best possible cost for value. Supports the Engineering Department in identifying best practice and the delivery of the Engineering Master Plan
  • Host onsite OEM or contractor support to work through higher level technical issues 

 

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor Degree in Engineering or a related discipline is required
  • A minimum of 3 years in a manufacturing facility, with leadership experience and a proven record of target focused delivery in a fast-paced operational environment
  • Demonstrated significant and relevant skills and results in CI
  • Understanding of the tools and techniques used in lean manufacturing, 5S and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM).
  • Proven project management skills, with the ability to participate in initiatives according to business needs and strategies
  • General understanding of the manufacturing/ consumer product goods industry
  • Strong communication and diplomacy skills are required to guide and influence others
  • Strong cross-functional strategic leadership, communication, and teamwork skills
  • Ability to translate strategy into actionable information in small or large groups in a clear, concise, and professional manner
  • Ability to analyze complex information in order to make judgments and decisions
  • Ability to influence upwards
  • Ability to lead and coach/develop others in problem-solving and root cause analysis

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a High Performance Organization.
  • Experience working in a CPG company.
  • Knowledge of and experience using Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) methodologies
