Under the direction of the relevant Department Manager (Engineering/Operations/CI), the Process Engineer is responsible for the overall development and maintenance of documentation that captures best operating practices in the plant. The key objective of this role is to reduce variation in operating methods thereby improving the reliability and repeatability of processes. The Process Engineer will work within the 6 MHPS systems to lead technician teams to standardize processes and procedures for the plant, including, but not limited to, processing, packaging, maintenance and engineering departments. This role will work with Department Managers to ensure that the formal change process is used thereby ensuring that change proposals are appropriately evaluated prior to change.
Providing process engineering support and project engineering guidance to filling, processing, and/or support departments under the direction of the Department Manager(s).
• Focus on cost reduction programs, process improvements, and engineering service requests as well as evaluation and recommendation of process capital improvements and automation.Critically analyzes processes/systems/practices to identify current gaps and opportunities for improvement.
• The Process Engineer is responsible for developing the following documents for the assigned area: Department Operating Procedures and line machinery training manuals, Standard Operating Procedures. ie., Lubrication, Preventative Maintenance, Autonomous Maint, focused improvement, and quality systemsStandar, d Control ProceduresAll run do, cuments including Baseline Audit Sheets, Changeover documents, Shutdown procedures, Startup procedures, and Operational Cleaning procedures, Line Capability. All above documents for new projects and maintained annually for ongoing systems
• Work with Project Engineering to set appropriate documentation standards for vendors and contractors that will facilitate ease of use in developing training documentation for plant staff
• Responsible for coaching and developing a team of Technicians to improve their skills allowing them to be more effective team members. Teams may be formed to attack a specific defect/losss or to support a specific project/initiative.Also help to ensure uniformity across all departments
• As requested, support new plant start ups providing personal technical expertise and process team support. Is expected to be current on industry standards and latest developments. Applies best practices and ensures that they are approved and documented
-Required Qualifications:
Level of Education and Discipline: BSc in Engineering, Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical and Industrial preferred, Food Science Certification
Licenses Experience - functional/industry/commercial knowledge, business acumen
May be a new/recent graduate with relevant co-op/internship experience.
Minimally, must possess one year of relevant production/engineering experience.
Knowledge and experience with plant operations, packaging and processing equipment is required.
Experience developing and writing procedures with cross functional teams.
Working knowledge of MPWS systems working knowledge of facilitative coaching and mentoring working knoweldge of packaging and process engineering (packaging preferred)
Interpersonal Skills - leadership, interactions, communication, influence
This position requires excellent cross functional communication skills and full involvement with the MPWS system. Provides mentoring, coaching and leading technology and technical skills development
Production Management – provides feedback to Production on problems and solutions; recommends improvements within the department. This interaction occurs on a daily basis
Engineering project teams within a MPWS - providing support with training, learning and education as well as best maintenance and engineerign practices
Other Skills and HPO Competencies: Proficiency in the application of statistical methods.
The successful candidate will be very detail oriented, have strong interpersonal and teamwork abilities, demonstrated grammatical and organizational skills and must be a self-starter, who is able to work independently.
Mastery in MS Office (Excel, Access, Project, PowerPoint, Word) required. SAP, Adobe Acrobrat Writer experience & working knowledge of PLC, CAD system and Shop Floor integration a plus.
