We are looking to hire an Production Team Manager II immediately at our Zatarain's Manufacturing Plant in Gretna, Louisiana.

The position will develop and manage a program that sustains process and equipment reliability for process and packing operations.  This leader will champion, train and coach process technicians and line technicians in all aspects of our autonomous maintenance pillar within our TPM Program.  This technical leader will lead process monitoring, reporting and root cause analysis on equipment and process performance gaps.  This leader will also work closely with the maintenance team in running an effective preventative maintenance program and provide technical expertise to engineering on new equipment purchases, machine rebuilds, new product trials and new production trials.  

 

Primary/Essential duties:

  • Safety and quality: Ensuring safety and quality processes are established for process and packing equipment.

  • Program management: Developing and managing programs to affect reliable production processes and equipment reliability.

  • Technical Leadership: Providing guidance to Supervisors, Process Technicians, Maintenance Technicians  and Line Technicians.  

  • People leadership: Directly supervise all process technicians.

  • Process Reliability: Conduct process monitoring and perform root cause analysis on processes outside of tolerance.

  • Equipment Reliability studies: Conducting reliability studies to improve equipment performance.

  • Communication: Developing and fostering a communication network between engineers, mechanics, operators, team leaders, and managers.

  • Equipment maintenance: Implementing and developing predictive and preventative maintenance activities (CILs).

  • Equipment performance: Analyzing operational data and equipment performance history to improve maintenance metrics.

  • Provide leadership for production staff through effective communication, coaching, training and development. Define future state, set departmental goals, and communicate goals with supervisory staff, gain support and commitment. Ensure functional area goals are aligned to operational and organizational goals.

  • Serve as Subject Matter Expert regarding mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation equipment.

  • Mentor and train Line Technicians (new and existing) to provide increased equipment effectiveness and to ensure program sustainability.

  • Conduct Failure Analysis on critical assets and equipment to eliminate root cause(s) of failure and develop improvements to prevent future occurrences.

  • Participate in the quality assurance of new builds and modifications to assure adherence to functional specifications.

  • Ensure Process Technicians have proper training, equipment, and management support to accomplish operator maintenance tasks safely, effectively, and on time.

 

Required Education, Experience & Skills:

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering is highly preferred; however, all candidates with extensive experience in reliability and maintenance management will be considered.

  • Three years manufacturing/industrial experience or equivalent education.

  • Ability to understand financial impact of business decisions affecting staffing, product components, inventory, etc.

  • Knowledge and application of lean tools, statistical tools, root cause analysis, failure mode & effect analysis, statistics. Must be able to take complex tasks and concepts and present them in simple format to key stakeholders with varying skills and knowledge with intent on putting to practical use.

  • Must be highly collaborative and have a servant leadership style.

  • Demonstrated analytical/critical thinking skills to determine risk assessment.

  • Knowledge of packaging/processing equipment, understands the importance of PM, AM, and TPM processes.

  • Function as a data driven leader, establishing dashboards and KPIs.

  • Computer skills preferred, including SAP, Outlook, MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Project or scheduling software, etc.

  • The site operates 7 days per week, around the clock. Managers work the hours necessary to complete the job accurately, thoroughly, and within given deadlines.

 

 

Preferred Education, Certification, Experience and Skills:

  • Assist in capital projects as needed, providing technical support for installation and start-up support of all new critical equipment.

  • Strong desire to be in the field; to gain deep understanding of the plant, manufacturing processes, people, etc.

  • BA Degree in Engineering or related field
