Position overview

 

The Master Data Analyst plays a critical role in ensuring the accuracy, consistency, and integrity of master data within the Global Business Solutions (GBS) function. This position is responsible for managing, maintaining, monitoring, and controlling master data activities that support business operations across multiple global McCormick markets.

As a key part of the master data governance framework, the Master Data Analyst ensures that material master data, bills of materials (BOMs), recipe master data, customer master data, vendor master data, and pricing data are maintained with a high degree of accuracy while aligning with financial compliance standards, particularly material costing controls, pricing governance and best practices for data administration.

 

Primary purpose

 

 

The primary objective of this role is to enable efficient and reliable data management processes that enhance operational effectiveness, decision-making, and regulatory compliance. By providing high-quality master data support, the Master Data Analyst ensures seamless integration across business functions, reducing errors and inefficiencies in supply chain, finance, sales & distribution, and procurement operations.

This role is essential in:

  • Data Integrity & Quality: Ensuring accuracy, consistency, and completeness of material, BOM, recipe, customer, vendor, and pricing master data.
  • Operational Efficiency: Supporting seamless end-to-end processes across all business units,
  • Compliance & Control: Upholding financial and regulatory standards in material costing, pricing accuracy, and vendor/customer governance.
  • Problem Resolution: Identifying and resolving master data errors to minimize business disruptions and improve process efficiency.
  • Collaboration & Support: Working cross-functionally with, and IT to drive continuous improvement in data management.

By serving as a key steward of end-to-end master data governance, the Master Data Analyst strengthens business performance and supports global operational excellence.

 

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Master Data & Pricing Governance

  • Manage end-to-end master data maintenance in SAP instances and legacy ERPs for materials, BOMs, recipes, customers, vendors, and pricing.
  • Utilize Stibo STEP, Salesforce, Lotus Notes, and Power Apps to support data governance, workflow automation, and validation processes.
  • Oversee pricing data governance, ensuring accurate pricing updates, approvals, and compliance in Salesforce and SAP.
  • Support Change Master processes within DEVEX and SAP to ensure controlled and auditable product data changes.

Monitor AIF for IDOCs, resolving integration errors and ensuring data consistency.

 

Business & Digital Transformation Initiatives

 

  • Lead data automation and process improvements, driving efficiency and scalability in master data management.
  • Support SAP upgrades, ERP migrations, and system enhancements, ensuring seamless data transitions and minimal business disruption

 

Data Quality, Compliance & Governance

 

  • Enforce SOX controls, data policies, and global master data standards and best practices to ensure compliance and data accuracy.
  • Drive data cleansing, rationalization, and de-duplication efforts, improving data integrity and reliability.
  • Actively participate in defining and monitoring metrics and service level agreements (SLAs) to ensure customer satisfaction and timely delivery of services.

 

Risk Analysis & Mitigation in Cross-Functional Projects

  • Identify data-related risks in business transformation projects, ensuring risk mitigation strategies are in place.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and IT to proactively address potential data challenges.

 

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Stakeholder Support

  • Act as the master data lead on business projects, ensuring accurate data collection, validation, and activation for new products and process changes.
  • Work with the business and IT to align master data processes with operational and strategic goals.

 

Training & Knowledge Sharing

  • Provide training and user support on master data processes, tools, and governance to ensure data accuracy, compliance, and industry best master data practices.
  • Foster a digital mindset, encouraging adoption of new technologies and data-driven decision-making.

 

Experience

 

  • 3+ years of experience in EDI / Master Data Administration / Order Management / Logistics / Procurement / Finance / Billing / Planning / Sales, or related fields within a cross-functional, fast-paced environment.
  • Strong knowledge of food manufacturing processes, including materials, BOMs, and recipes.
  • Experience with SAP/ERP systems. Experience with Lotus Notes, and data integration platform is an advantage.
  • Proven ability to analyze, optimize, and implement process improvements under tight deadlines.
  • Familiarity with digital tools and automation solutions to enhance data accuracy and efficiency.
  • 1+ years of project management experience, supporting the design and execution of cross-functional initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of SAP architecture, supporting systems, and data flow between enterprise platforms.
  • Ability to work in a 24/7 support environment, ensuring business continuity in an emergency event.
  • Deep understanding of GBS operations, McCormick’s supply chain processes, and end-to-end data governance.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a proven ability to build relationships and manage customer interactions effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Cross-cultural experience, with the ability to engage and work with diverse teams globally.
  • Demonstrates communication skills, using courtesy, tact, and empathy to effectively exchange information across all levels of management and GBS teams.
  • Comfortable interacting with all business levels and able to break down complex data to analyze the impact of changes.
  • Leads process redesign and change management initiatives, driving continuous improvement across business processes.
  • Exhibits strong problem-solving and independent judgment to address complex issues and influence outcomes through collaboration with others.
  • Champions SAP master data governance, ensuring adherence to standards and challenging deviations from established designs.
  • Leads master data initiatives for New Product launches, acquisitions, SAP upgrades, and Supply Chain projects, while ensuring data accuracy and consistency.
  • Engages in cross-functional collaboration with R&D, Supply Chain, Finance, Operations, Sales & Distribution, IT, and other key teams, globally, to resolve data-related issues and drive process efficiency.
  • Enforces master data standards and best practices, participates in data cleansing efforts, and provides consultation and expertise to resolve errors and inquiries across the business.
