Position Overview
This role will be responsible for applying data mining techniques, completing statistical analysis, cleaning data, building predictive models, and visualizing data to solve problems and innovate new ways of working for the global business. Effective communication skills, organization, time management, and a will to learn current business processes and new data science techniques are essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Translate data & analytics into business insights by working with global leaders and regional functional teams.
- Identify, acquire, and preprocess diverse data sources; validate data integrity and quality; and design scalable, automated data collection and enrichment processes to support robust analytical and machine learning systems.
- Build and train models using machine learning, Time Series and Forecasting techniques
- Design and build workflows with advanced algorithms and models such as ML, Time Series, ML Ops etc. to conform to business needs
- Continuously evaluate and enhance existing systems by redesigning workflows and embedding AI and machine learning models to improve performance, scalability, and business impact.
Secondary Responsibilities
- Ability to achieve project goals and objectives by applying the discipline of planning, organizing, and managing resources to bring about successful project completion
- Continuously seek out industry best practice and skills to develop new capabilities for data analytics at McCormick and help drive our digital transformation
Required Qualifications
Level of Education and Discipline-
Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Data Analytics/Science, or related field
Experience - functional/industry/commercial knowledge, business acumen
- Advanced analytical skillset. Proficiency in cleaning, visualizing, analyzing, and presenting insights from data sets
- Demonstrated ability coding in one or more languages (Python preferred)
- Experience with data visualization software (Power BI preferred)
- Experience with building, evaluating and deploying statistical models
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously

- Strong technical curiosity and passion for problem solving and innovation
- Ability to simplify and communicate complex information to internal audiences
- Ongoing aspiration to learn about new industry tools

Preferred Qualifications
Level of Education and Discipline- Master's Degree in related field
Experience - functional/industry/commercial knowledge, business acumen
- Experience with Cloud based tools (Azure preferred)
- Technical knowledge for Data environments, transformation, deployments and ML Opps
- Ability to connect the dots between complex data/analytics and business application
- Experience with Forecasting use cases
- Ability to explain model output, key drivers and business implications
- Experience with an ERP system – SAP preferred.
