Position Overview
Legal Service Analyst supports the Legal department in the management of contracts and intellectual property (IP) activities. The role will work across McCormick and assist on:
ž Efficiently and effectively drafting, redlining and reviewing agreements in-scope 
ž Function as a partner to business stakeholders to effectively manage commercial and legal risks in contracts. 
ž Managing the contract and clause depository 
ž Undertaking contract reporting 
ž Supporting certain IP activities

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Contract Management: Drafting, redlining, reviewing, negotiating, processing and managing contracts across McCormick in accordance with relevant processes, procedures, guidance, policies, playbooks and contract templates.

IP Activities: Support and manage specific IP activities, including IP infringement (e.g., take down requests, cease and desist letters, etc.), patent/trademark support (e.g., invention requests, patent applications, maintenance/renewals, etc.), and licensing agreements. 

Project Management: Accountable for interacting with relevant business units to obtain input into contractual terms, progress updates, etc.

Contract Storage: Responsible for managing and maintaining contract and legal file repository for pre-approved documents, templates and contract clauses.

Contract Reporting: Responsible for collecting contract data and metrics, analyzing data and building insightful reports with commentary on trends, contract compliance, ROIs, KPIs, etc.

 

Required Qualifications & Experience

 

Law degree required with 5+ years of expereince. 

Ability to interact with individuals at all levels of the organization and external parties. Must display excellent organizational, communication, interpersonal/influence skills along with sound legal and business judgment and the ability to gain credibility in area of expertise;

Strong understanding of legal concepts and terminology, including knowledge of contract and IP law, relevant regulations, and the ability to interpret and apply legal language in contracts;

Advise business stakeholders on commercial and legal risks;

Collaborate with management on key legal issues to facilitate risk assessment and pragmatic decision making to develop viable business solutions to potential legal risks;Strong knowledge of applications such as excel spreadsheets, SharePoint; Familiar with legal technology including CLM, IP docketing, etc.
