Packaging Data Analyst

The Packaging Data Analyst plays a critical role within the North America Packaging R&D team, ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and lifecycle governance of packaging specifications that enable successful product commercialization.
This role combines systems expertise, data governance, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure packaging master data is accurate, compliant, and operationally ready across SAP platforms. This directly enables speed-to-market, compliance assurance, and operational excellence across our North American portfolio.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
Packaging Data Governance & SAP Lifecycle Management
- Own and manage SAP packaging specification lifecycle processes, including creation, modification, approval, release, and obsoletion.
- Ensure proper template selection, standardized nomenclature, completeness, vendor documentation, and regulatory compliance.
- Administer STEP / MDG workflow tasks for assignment of new VERPs / ZPAKs within SAP specifications.
- Maintain high data quality standards through validation, audits, and continuous process improvement.
Commercialization & Cross-Functional Support
- Serve as a primary point of contact for internal and external packaging specification data requests
- Support commercialization timelines by ensuring timely and accurate packaging master data availability.
- Partner with vendors to ensure specification sign-off and documentation completeness.
Capital & Tooling Data Administration
- Initiate and administer Capital Authorization Approvals (CAAPs) related to packaging tooling.
- Track spend and payments for associated projects, providing updates to engineering and finance stakeholders
Process Excellence & Continuous Improvement
- Develop and refine work instructions and standard operating procedures.
- Identify opportunities to streamline specification workflows and improve data accuracy.
- Support onboarding and training of new team members on packaging data processes and systems.
Candidate Profile
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering, Packaging Science, Supply Chain, Data Management, or related field preferred.
- 3–5 years of experience in food or CPG packaging specifications, packaging materials, or master data management.
- Experience working in ERP environments (SAP strongly preferred; S/4HANA exposure a plus).
- Experience with Master Data Governance (MDG), STEP workflows, or structured specification systems.
Technical Skills
- Strong understanding of packaging materials, formats, and tooling.
- Knowledge of specification lifecycle processes and change control management.
- Advanced Excel skills (data validation, pivot tables, reporting).
- Basic statistical and analytical capabilities to support data integrity and reporting.
- Familiarity with capital project tracking and documentation management.
