Position Overview

 

Reporting to the global or regional Supplier Quality leader, the Supplier Quality Manager guarantees the supply of reliable materials quality from regional and/or global suppliers and contract manufacturers over time while meeting the quality requirements of McCormick and our customers. This requires leadership and management of ingredient categories and contract manufacturers through implementation of quality and performance improvement programs and supporting key initiatives of involving new suppliers and new products. For medium and high risk suppliers, this individual collaborates with Supply Chain, Procurement, and the Global Supplier Quality CoE providing quality leadership and coordination with the other stakeholders as appropriate.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Support of McCormick stakeholders in selection, development, and/or maintenance of Suppliers, Co-Mans, Licensees
  • Lead vendor/supplier/procurement communication and education of quality and food safety risk and be the point person for your assigned region/categories. Execute supplier onboarding, development, maintenance, improvement, and disqualification processes
  • Lead an incident workstream, complaint investigation, claims
  • Drive innovation and improvements in suppliers based on data and loss analysis to influence business decisions and actions
  • Create and prioritize risk countermeasures, based on risk tolerance, severity, and probability of occurrence. Build effective, cross functional continuity plans, designed to mitigate business disruptions
  • Reinforce Quality Culture and development by sharing industry trends, supplier best practices, and quality systems that have been observed and align with our functional competencies for growth

 

Required Qualifications

 

Bachelor’s degree in relevant discipline OR Relevant McCormick experience in a technical management field while in pursuit of a degree could also be considered. 

Certification or training focused on Quality and Food Safety for Supply Chain requirement: PCQI (or HACCP based on region) • Auditing proficiencies required through training or certification (i.e. ASQ, CFSQA) • Technical quality knowledge training or certification preferred (CQE, CSSBB) certified quality engineer or Six Sigma Black Belt for example • GFSI scheme (i.e. SQF, BRC) management experience required.

 

8+ years • Experience in at least one Quality focus areas (Customer, Operations, Regulatory, Supplier, Global CoE) or related function, including Supply Chain, Product Development preferred • Experience in the Food/Flavor Industry preferred.

Decision Making: Make decisions for supplier base using the Quality and Regulatory Standards and make effective decisions where the standard does not apply or exist using cross functional team and/or external input • Financial Acumen: Understand and execute a standard approach of maintenance of key financial topics,  Quality, Food Safety and Regulatory Culture, Programs, Standards: Monitors and understands Quality and Regulatory best practices and developments. Supports internal, end-to-end Quality and Regulatory Excellence within Supplier, Operations, Customer, and Regulatory areas. Continually uses Quality and Regulatory knowledge to improve competitive position. Is connected to industry boards and external industry networks to increase internal awareness of trends and best practices • English required and others specific to region/responsibilities.
