Position Overview:

The Senior AI Engineer I is a collaborative AI application engineer working as part of a cross-functional Agile product team responsible for building and evolving McCormick’s global Agentic AI platform.

This role designs and develops AI agents using Model Context Protocol (MCP) and Agent-to-Agent (A2A) communication patterns that participate in a distributed enterprise AI ecosystem. In addition to delivering features, the AI Engineer I actively contributes to improving agent workflows, retrieval strategies, prompt design, and platform capabilities.

The position operates with growing autonomy, contributing ideas in design discussions, helping refine technical patterns, and delivering production-ready AI systems in a cloud-native Azure environment. The role combines strong implementation capability with collaborative problem-solving and continuous learning in advanced AI systems engineering.


Required Experience -

  • 2–4 years of experience in software engineering, with hands-on exposure to AI/ML or LLM-based applications.
  • Experience developing cloud-native applications in Microsoft Azure or similar environments.
  • Experience working within Agile product development teams.
  • Exposure to API-driven and distributed system architectures.
  • Interpersonal Skills - leadership, interactions, communication, influence    Excellent communication skills and a desire to collaborate openly within a fast-moving team

Other Skills:     

  • Practical experience with LangChain, LangGraph (Agents and Tools) or similar orchestration frameworks.
  • Working knowledge of MCP and A2A concepts within agent workflows.
  • Experience integrating with Azure OpenAI, Gemini or similar LLM services.
  • Foundational understanding of Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) architectures.
  • Experience working with vector stores such as Azure AI Search or PGVector.
  • Experience developing RESTful APIs and integrating external services.
  • Familiarity with Docker and containerized deployment practices.
  • Experience contributing to CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions or similar tooling.
  • Basic understanding of telemetry, monitoring, and feature flag practices.
  • Familiarity with NoSQL databases and data-driven application development.

Preferred Experience -

  • Experience contributing to AI-powered applications in production environments.
  • Exposure to structured evaluation approaches for AI-driven systems.
  • Experience working on cloud-native, microservice-based applications.
  • Interpersonal Skills - leadership, interactions, communication, influence
