POSITION OVERVIEW
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Accountant I to join our accounting team. This position plays a key role in supporting the monthly close process, maintaining accurate financial records, and ensuring compliance with internal controls and company policies. The ideal candidate will have a foundational understanding of accounting principles and a strong interest in growing their expertise in areas such as balance sheet reconciliations, fixed assets, inventory, and accounts payable.
Key Responsibilities:
- Balance Sheet Reconciliations:
Prepare and review monthly reconciliations for key balance sheet accounts, ensuring accuracy and timely resolution of reconciling items. - SOX Controls Compliance:
Support and adhere to internal controls and documentation requirements in compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) regulations. - Fixed Asset Capitalization:
Assist in tracking capital expenditures, capitalization of fixed assets, and monthly depreciation entries. Ensure assets are properly recorded and maintained in the fixed asset subledger. - Inventory Close Process:
Collaborate with inventory management teams to support monthly close procedures, including perpetual inventory checks and reconciling inventory balances. - Accounts Payable (AP) Entries:
Post journal entries related to purchase orders (POs) and assist in the review and resolution of AP discrepancies tied to inventory and expense purchases. - Bank Reconciliation:
Perform daily bank reconciliation checks, ensuring timely identification and resolution of discrepancies. - TTB Entry of Invoices:
Calculate and enter invoice data into the TTB (Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau) system based on reported quantities and compliance requirements.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 2+ years of accounting experience
- Understanding of GAAP and fundamental accounting concepts
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel (e.g., VLOOKUP, pivot tables)
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g., Microsoft AX, SAP)
- Familiarity with fixed asset software and inventory modules
- Knowledge of SOX compliance and internal controls
- Industry-specific experience (e.g., manufacturing, CPG, or regulated industries)

Base Salary: $ 153,990 to $94,480
Base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, experience for this role, and/or internal equity of our current employees as part of any final offer. This position is also eligible to participate in McCormick’s Incentive Bonus (MIB) Plan.
