McCormick & Company, Incorporated is seeking a full-time Engineering Intern at McFONA located at 1900 Averill Rd, Geneva, IL.  This is a 10-week internship (June 2024 - August 2024) which requires 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday.

Position Overview
Under the direction of the Project Engineer, the Engineering Intern is responsible for the implementation and maintenance of the SOP documentation that captures best operating practices in the plant. The key objective of this role is to reduce variation in operating methods thereby improving the reliability, repeatability, and Safety of processes. The Engineering Intern will work with manufacturing supervisors, equipment leads, operators, and the industrial performance group to standardize processes and procedures for the plant, including, but not limited to, processing (existing or new), packaging, and maintenance. This role will work with the Project Engineer, Engineering Manager, Safety Manager, PS&Q Manager, and IPG manager to ensure that proper training is provided and to ensure that the formal change process is used thereby ensuring that change proposals are appropriately evaluated prior to change. Additionally, the Engineering Intern will be responsible for identification and implementation of continuous improvement opportunities for existing and new processes. As needed, the process Engineering will also provide support on CAD design projects, planning and review of capital projects, operation of new equipment, troubleshooting equipment. Key Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
•Providing process engineering support and project engineering guidance. Providing process engineering support when exploring the adoption of existing technologies for new products.
•Focus on cost reduction programs, process improvements, and engineeringservice requests as well as evaluation and recommendation of process capital
improvements and automation. Critically analyzes processes/systems/practices to identify current gaps and opportunities for improvement.
•The Engineering Intern is responsible for developing the following documentsfor the assigned area

:•Department Operating Procedures and line machinery training manuals

•Standard Operating Procedures.

•Standard Control Procedures•All run documents including Baseline Audit Sheets, Changeoverdocuments, Shutdown procedures, Startup procedures, and OperationalCleaning procedures.•Line Capability Datasheets

•All above documents for new projects and maintained annually forongoing systems
•As requested, support the Project Engineer or Engineering Manager in thedesign, planning, and execution of Capital project opportunities for Orderfulfillment.
•Responsible for coaching and developing the team of technical leads andoperators to improve their skills allowing them to be more effective OF teammembers. Teams may be formed to attack a specific manufacturing challenge orto support a specific project/initiative. Also help to ensure uniformity across alldepartments.
•As requested, support new plant startups providing personal technical expertiseand process team support. Applies best practices and ensures that they areapproved and documented.
Qualifications
Level of Education and Discipline
working towards BS in Engineering, Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical and Industrial. (Junior in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineeringpreferred)
Interpersonal Skills -

Leadership, interactions, communication, influence
This position requires excellent cross functional communication skills. Provides mentoring, coaching and leading technology and technical skills development.

Production Management – provides feedback to Production on problems and solutions; recommends improvements within the department. Provides support with training, learning and education as well as best maintenance and engineering practices.
Other Skills and HPO Competencies
Proficiency in the application of statistical methods. The successful candidate will be very detail oriented, have strong interpersonal and teamwork abilities, demonstrated grammatical and organizational skills and must be a self-starter, who is able to work independently.Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Access, Project, PowerPoint, Word)required. Working knowledge of PLC, CAD system and simulation tools is a plus.
