Lead Facility Technician

McCormick & Co., Inc., a world leader in the spice, flavor & seasonings industry, is seeking a full time Facilities Lead on the Geneva Site Facilities Team.  This new hire will work in McCormick’s Mc FONA Site located at 1900 Averill Rd, Geneva IL .  The Facilites Lead will report to the Facilities Manager. 

 POSITION OVERVIEW

This position provides essential support to FONA International by ensuring a 24/7 audit ready facility. This position is primarily to support excellence in the condition and appearance of the FONA campus and to assist the Guest Services Coordinator with all logistics necessary to assure problem free events. This position also coordinates the schedule of janitorial staff and light repair projects to the facility.

Position Scope:

Projects are simple to moderately complex in nature and require moderate to no supervision.

Working Conditions:

Typical lab environment with frequent interaction with general office and manufacturing environment.  Need for lifting up to 100 lbs. is helpful to carry out all duties.

Overtime is routinely required.

Must understand material and equipment hazards and perform duties in a safe manner utilizing recognized safe practices and/or appropriate personal protective equipment. Must promptly notify supervisor of any unsafe acts or conditions.

Principal Accountabilities

Ensures timely and accurate support to FONA needs to allow for meeting the customer’s needs on a daily basis.

• Creates the campus calendar for all cleaning activities and seasonal refresh projects
• Manages the campus request process and responds to all internal customer requests
• Directly supports facility/campus improvement projects
• Interfaces with and coordinates work with outside vendors for specific repairs and facility upgrades
• Works directly with VP Facilities to establish an excellence standard for the appearance and condition of the FONA facility
• Organizes and assures completion of spring and fall cleaning activities in preparation for Flavor University
• Orders cafeteria supplies and inventory of items required to support FONA employee lunchroom
• Assures that cleaning supplies are stored properly and all required documents (MSDS) are filed in the appropriate location
• Generates facility staff work assignments and oversees the completion of those tasks
• Provides hands on assistance for repairs and certain projects at the direction of the VP Facilities
• Communicates and coordinates with other facilities team members to meet specific event needs (such as FONA Center set up or special food or beverage requests)
• Follows all company prescribed safety procedures and policies and consults safety officer in all other matters
• Assures that master sanitation schedule for facility group is complete in a timely fashion and all work is satisfactorily completed.
• Directs facility staff to support refills and special needs during visitor events
• Works with staff and outside vendors to minimize odor contamination in office and entry ways
• Schedules all floor maintenance activities (stripping and waxing) to be completed during off shifts to minimize disruption to business
• Works directly with FONA employees to assist their facility needs and repairs to furniture, work areas or HVAC conditions
• Assures that facility audit requirements are completed prior to inspections.
• Develops more efficient procedures and methods to save time on repetitive duties to trim excessive overtime
• Conducts periodic inspections of completed work to assure quality and quantity are above standard
• Trains new employees
