McCormick & Company, Incorporated is seeking a full-time Maintenance and Engineering Intern at McFONA located at 1900 Averill Rd, Geneva, IL. This is a 10-week internship (June 2024 - August 2024) which requires 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday.

Position Overview
Under the direction of the Project Engineer and the Maintenance Planner, the Maintenance and Engineering Intern is responsible for the creation and implementation of Preventative Maintenance documentation that captures best operating practices in the plant. The key objective of this role is to create PM procedures to reduce equipment downtime thereby improving the reliability, repeatability, and Safety of plant processes. The Intern will work with OEM's and Maintenance Technicians to create PM's based off of Manufacturer's recommendations and normal operation schedule. This role will work with the Maintenance Department, Project Engineer, Engineering Manager, Safety Manager, PS&Q Manager, and IPG manager to ensure that proper training is provided. Additionally, the Intern will be responsible for identification and implementation of continuous improvement opportunities for existing and new processes. As needed, the process Engineering will also provide support on CAD design projects, operation of new equipment, troubleshooting equipment and creating Operating Guides or Standard Operating Procedures. Key Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
•Creating Preventative Maintenance Documentation based on OEMrecommendations. Implement PM's into Maintenance Connect System andprovide any necessary training for the Maintenance Technicians. Identifyingwhat PM's are critical to complete.
•Supporting the Maintenance Department in identifying Critical Spare Partsand improving inventory management.
•Developing the following documents for the assigned area
:•Department Operating Procedures and line machinery training manuals
•Standard Operating Procedures.
•Standard Control Procedures
•All run documents including Baseline Audit Sheets, Changeover documents, Shutdown procedures, Startup procedures, and Operational Cleaning procedures
.•Line Capability Datasheets•All above documents for new projects and maintained annually for ongoing systems
•As requested, support the Project Engineer and Maintenance Planner in maintenance work order submittal, identifying areas in need of maintenance repair, identifying key safety needs of equipment and plant layout, assisting maintenance technicians in machine repair, and troubleshooting equipment.
•Assist the Engineering department in any CAD drawings that need to be created for plant layout, equipment layout, or capital design. Assist the Maintenance Department in any CAD drawings that need to be created for custom parts or equipment.
•Investigate Safety concerns, maintenance work order completion, new project implementation.
Required Qualifications
Working towards BS in Engineering (Preferred - Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical and Industrial), Engineering Technology, Operations and Information Management.
Certification and/or Licenses
Interpersonal Skills - leadership, interactions, communication, influence
This position requires excellent cross functional communication skills. Provides mentoring, coaching and leading technology and technical skills development. Production Management – provides feedback to Production on problems and solutions; recommends improvements within the department. Provides support with training, learning and education as well as best maintenance and engineering practices.
Other Skills and HPO Competencies
Proficiency in the application of statistical methods. The successful candidate will be very detail oriented, have strong interpersonal and teamwork abilities, demonstrated grammatical and organizational skills and must be a self-starter, who is able to work independently.Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Access, Project, PowerPoint, Word)required. Working knowledge of PLC, CAD system and simulation tools is a plus.
