McCormick & Company, Incorporated is seeking a full-time Quality and Regulatory Intern at McCormick FONA located at 1900 Averill Road, Geneva, IL.  This is a 10-week internship (June 2-August 8, 2025) which requires 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday.

Position Overview:

The Quality and Regulatory Intern will work in a plant environment over a 10-week Summer Internship Program (June 2 - August 8), 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday) in Geneva, IL. This program allows college students to get a glimpse into what it’s like to be a part of the McCormick family, gain exposure to broader business objectives, and connect with senior leaders.

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • The intern will be part of a collaborative cross functional team working to standardize/improve food safety, quality systems and regulatory compliance.
  • Throughout the summer, the intern will be responsible for leading 2-3 projects that may include:
    • Statistical Process Control and System Capability Improvements
    • Issue and Complaint Resolution
    • New Product Scale Up
    • Implementation of Food Safety and Quality Policies/Standards
      • Sanitary Design for New Capital Projects
      • Compliance to New US FDA Nutrition Labeling Regulations
      • CIP validation leadership and/or execution
      • Updating of site Food Safety Plans/Hazard Analysis and procedures
      • Supporting day to day quality tasks for operations quality, customer quality or regulatory affairs
      • Projects aligned to site’s Quality and Food Safety priorities
  • ​​​​​​​JTE projects, activities, and initiatives engagement
  • Projects aligned to site’s Quality and Food Safety priorities

 

Secondary Responsibilities: 

 

  • Project/ Program Management: Ability to achieve project goals and objectives by applying the discipline of planning, organizing, and managing resources to bring about successful project completion
  • Change Leadership and Management: Advocate for desired change through coaching and behavioral modeling

 

Required Qualifications: 

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program with graduation date 6 mos to 1 year from internship. Currently pursuing (enrolled or have completed courses) a degree in Food Science, Nutrition, Biological & Physical Sciences, Engineering or related field. 
  • Managing Vision & Organizational Purpose: Ability to know what is important and what should be prioritized. Strategy Development & Deployment: Ability to understand area Quality and Regulatory Strategy based on Quality, Regulatory and Food Safety Standards, cross functional stakeholder, SME, and CoE input. 
  • Effective Decision-Making Ability to propose creative and effective decisions, based on incomplete data and end-to-end thinking. Data and Analytics: Ability to analyze data to develop actionable insights. Ability to communicate technical information to internal cross functional partners. Technology Expertise: Ability to use technology tools and programs for area of focus. Cross Functional Acumen (Supply Chain, Product Development, Sales/Marketing/Commercialization, Customer Service): Understand Quality and Regulatory excellence for at least one part of the product lifecycle (develop, source, make, plan, deliver, customer)
