POSITION OVERVIEW 

To support the maintenance needs, both mechanical and electrical, of Operations and Production in standard conditions, including troubleshooting and repair, preventative and predictive maintenance. Responsible for maintaining and repairing production/ processing equipment to reduce machine-related downtime, eliminate losses, and improve machine reliability. The Technician should be able to work in a team environment, working with all areas of the business to provide support, repairs, and solutions to various problems.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Troubleshooting of mechanical and electrical equipment including: motors, pumps, valves, agitators, circuit boards, VFDs, fans, blowers, etc. and a general understanding of air compressors, chillers, boilers, dust collectors, HVAC, and other utility equipment.
  • Completes Work Orders in Maintenance Connect System, fills out all associated work performed on the requested work order, provides time to complete the job, inputs all parts consumed for job, provides pictures and documentation of work completed
  • Perform mechanical and electrical duties of a complex nature including performing breakdown analysis, basic and major equipment rebuilds, advanced mechanical & intermediate electrical troubleshooting, advanced equipment adjustments, mechanical and electrical maintenance (both planned and unplanned) for production equipment and facilities, basic PLC/ Ladder Logic/ HMI, and fabrication. 
  • Participates in cross-functional improvement teams and problem solving activities 
  • Investigate and communicate root cause failure analysis, including recommending and implement resolutions. 
  • Read and interpret blueprints, manuals, technical specs, electrical drawings, etc. Adheres to safety/ GMP standards, ensuring a safe work environment and reporting food safety issues to the site leadership. 
  • Operate heavy equipment including: boom lifts, scissor lifts, fork lifts, lulls, etc.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS 

  • High school diploma, GED or high school equivalent  
  • 7-9 years of experience, preferably in the food industry. 
  • Understands Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and all safety requirements with working on industrial equipment (LOTO, Hot Work, Confined Space, electrical safety, chemical safety). Understands the fundamentals of material compatibility, sanitary design, equipment drawings, general utilities (gas, air, electric, water).
  • Familiar with the general names of parts, diagrams, equipment, etc. Communicates effectively, orally/written, up, down and across facilitates and promotes teamwork & team discussions. Interactions: 
  • Technical/Functional: Basic Mechanic Skills, Basic Electrical Skills, performing breakdown analyses, basic and major equipment rebuilds, basic troubleshooting, advanced equipment adjustments, mechanical and electrical maintenance (both planned and unplanned) for production equipment and facilities, basic PLC/ Ladder Logic/ HMI, and fabrication. 
  • Sense of Responsibility, Teamwork, Accountability, Adaptability 
  • Demonstrated ability to methodically analyze and correct problems of a varied nature on a wide range of equipment and support systems required. 
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.    
  • Must be able to become a certified forklift operator required. 
  • Must be agile enough to maneuver around equipment, climb stairs, and go up and down ladders to reach various equipment required  
  • Ability to work overtime daily and weekends, sometimes with minimal notice.  Flexibility with shift hours is required 
  • Ability to work up to heights of 45 ft. on material handling equipment required 
  • Candidate must have knowledge of Planned Maintenance practices 
  • Demonstrated process improvement ability and leadership 
  • Must be able to successfully work individually and as part of a team 

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Vocational education or Technical Degree/Certification as an Industrial Maintenance Technician would enhance the performance of the job. Actions and work performance impact the bottom line at the unit level due to opportunity to cause downtime on production lines. 
  • Licensed Sanitary Welder, Licensed Electrician
