Position: Sensory Technician

Based: Haddenham, UK





  • Support Descriptive Panel with all set up requirements and preparation of samples according to test design and project objective.
  • Support Discrimination Testing.
  • Manage discrimination panel and recruitment.
  • Set up all discrimination testing.
  • Support with data interpretation and report writing as and when appropriate.
  • Own and be the key sensory contact for Shelf-Life program.
  • Manage set up of all new SL and keep SL tracker up to date.
  • Manage data base of results and create overview for final reports.
  • Communicate any call-outs to account manager.
  • Undertake technician assessments.
  • Set up all SL weekly (Compusense), run the testing and do feedback as appropriate.
  • Support Consumer testing activities as and when appropriate.
  • Support sensory screening coordination for internal panel and manage set up of internal and external panels’ screening.
  • Work closely with Panel Leader and Project Manager to manage expectations and requirements and be the key support for any ad hoc sensory related activities.
  • Manage sample storage as well as lab supplies.




  • A background in Sensory Science, Food Science, or related discipline.
  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate field with a Sensory/Consumer Science focus.
  • Relevant experience in a laboratory environment.
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills.
  • Excellent people skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural team.
  • Sound knowledge of basic statistical analysis methods.
  • Ability to prioritize and meeting tight timelines.
  • Flexible approach to manage changing priorities.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Fully operational in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Enthusiastic about food.
  • Experience in using Compusense @Hand will be an advantage.
  • Relevant experience in a Sensory environment will be an advantage.
