As an individual contributor & subject matter expert, working within the Global CoE for food safety, the role of Senior Manager Toxicology will provide governance & technical direction to our critical work relating to Toxicological chemical risk, by providing valuable insight on existing & emerging chemical hazards as well as lead all product risk/exposure assessments. Driving & positioning policy guidance, from presenting ideas to leading small teams, across the spectrum of naturally occurring toxins, unwanted contaminants or novel food additives whether that be in support of new additive introduction, or rapid assessments in the wake of a food-related incident, the role will be accountable to clearly position & communicate evidence-based analysis and guidance to multiple stakeholders across our business for both our commercial benefit and/or risk mitigation.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Participate in global scientific intelligence gathering, including participation in relevant trade groups, scientific forums, and consortia.
- Provide internal toxicological consultation and assessment to inform business issues.
- Draft and edit company positions, directives, and responses.
- Assess, develop, and maintain toxicology data management and risk assessment tools.
- Participate in continuous education to assure the company possesses the most up to date toxicology and scientific affairs knowledge.
- Lead and/or support key business initiatives.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
- A scientific degree in a relevant discipline (chemistry, biochemistry, toxicology etc) or equivalent understanding of the scientific issues.
- Previous experience in the safety assessment of consumer and/or industrial food products, packaging materials or ingredients.
- Extensive experience of both conducting & peer reviewing chemical/toxicological risk assessments to international standards.
- Proven record of identifying & critically evaluating multiple sources of evidence to inform evidence-based proposals.
- Proven record of managing multiple priorities to time
- Successful record of engagement & collaboration with experts & non experts.
- Adopting a flexible approach to support other work as priorities and needs change.
- Able to build effective personal and professional networks and capabilities and collaborate with others.
