We are looking to hire an FINANCIAL ANALYST I immediately in a Hybrid (60/40) capacity at our office in Mexico City.

Position Overview

With support from the Director of Finance, Global Marketing COE, the analyst will be responsible for controllership activities related to A&P and Coupon Marketing spend across McCormick’s Consumer, Food Away from Home, and Flavor businesses.  Responsibilities include coordination of accounting month-end close, forecast process, variance reporting, general ledger review and balance sheet reconciliations, SOX administration, and management reporting.  This role also supports the completion of month end close, forecasting and reporting for management in the areas of A&P and Retailer Search, while providing moderately complex financial analyses.

 

Responsibilities

  • Provide dedicated support for the COE Finance team’s spend controllership, projects, and ad hoc requests
  • Manage the marketing budget reconciliations for brand initiatives (advertising, promotions, and coupons spend) including prepaids to ensure cost centers general ledger are reconciled and SOX signoffs are complete
  • Coordinate compilation and issuance of management reporting and analysis versus forecast, budget, and prior year
  • Reconcile income statement / balance sheet accounts and ensure SOX compliance
  • Assist with PO issuance, invoices and spend reconciliation (Coupons, Barter, Retailer Search and other)
  • Quarterly close out of aged PO’s and actively manage the forecasting of true ups
  • Actively monitor fraudulent deductions and make recommendations for coupon accrual adjustments
  • Use critical thinking in decision making process to draw upon professional experience, market and industry knowledge, data, and intuition
  • Interact with cross-functional teams and various management levels within McCormick and serve as main point of contact for auditor inquiries 
  • Utilize best practice financial reporting to meet the needs of the functional leaders, external authorities, and the stakeholders of the Company 
  • MMA (Market Mix Analysis) Insight Capabilities and business partnership with Global Strategic Growth team

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree - Accounting or Finance strongly preferred
  • At least 3-5 years of experience in Accounting, Financial, or equivalent business function analysis. 
  • Experience working on cross functional teams. Working knowledge of Sarbanes-Oxley, US GAAP, and Financial Reporting
  • Demonstrated thorough knowledge of the capabilities of transaction & reporting systems including, but not limited to Hyperion, TM1, SAP, Business Warehouse, Blackline, or other local systems
  • Immediate/Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and PowerPoint) required.
  • The successful candidate will be very detail oriented, have strong interpersonal and teamwork abilities, demonstrated grammatical and organizational skills and must be a self-starter, who is able to work independently.
  • Understands available reporting, drill down capabilities, and able to organize data in a way that adds value to analysis.
  • Demonstrated ability to proactively solve problems, multi-task, deliver accurate financial deliverables, and work in cross functional teams.
  • Self-management of assigned workload – ability to plan and meet deadlines under pressure
  • Self-starter and proactive in initiating action steps

Additional qualifications

  • MBA, preferred
  • SAP, HFM, TM1, or Business Warehouse knowledge a plus.
