Account Manager I, Flavor Sales

McCormick & Co., Inc., a world leader in the spice, flavor & seasonings industry, is seeking a full time Account Manager I – Flavor Sales. The Account Manager I - Flavor Sales will report to a Sales Director.  

This new hire will work for McCormick’s US Flavor Solutions Team in a home office, located near Hunt Valley, MD; Geneva, IL; or otherwise remote with ability to travel to clients.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

As a key member of the North American Flavor Solutions Sales team, this position supports the Sales Director with the management of smaller, development accounts. This position will collaborate with the Sales Director and other cross-functional team members on all aspects of customer support, including internal and external communications as well as direct sales responsibilities.  This individual will own customer relationships which drive growth through effective pipeline development and account management. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Establish in-depth working relationships and support management of activities at all levels within Purchasing, Supply Chain, Marketing, Technical, and Operations
  • Develop the strategic and tactical business plans for the territory with the Sales Director’s support
  • With Sales management involvement, develop customer pricing strategy to maximize business and profits
  • Drive and convert sales pipeline to achieve growth ambition and product line targets
  • Actively sell the value of McCormick Flavor Solutions capabilities and facilitate business to business relationships across functions
  • Maintain high industry awareness including keeping abreast of industry, customer and competitive news to increase probability of securing new business opportunities
  • Prioritize projects within accounts and independently manage project activity across all product lines including flavors, seasonings and spices/herbs.
  • Serve as a critical contact for the McCormick Flavor Solutions internal team to drive customer penetration through innovation and proactive customer intimacy. 
  • Ensure timely and effective communication with customers and internal partners
  • Promote the Company's image, with special emphasis on confidence, confidentiality, and professionalism

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BA in Business/Technical or related discipline
  • Minimum of 3 years food industry experience to include flavor and/or seasonings sales experience or sales experience in an adjacent industry with a similar selling environment
  • Working knowledge of technical aspects of products, i.e. nomenclature, applicability within customer's manufacturing process, substitution choices, new discoveries, etc.
  • Ability to develop and execute territory priorities, communicate value propositions, assess realistic business opportunities and defend pricing actions independently
  • Proven project management skills in a sales cycle from six weeks to eighteen months
  • Demonstrated ability to manage limited internal resources and prioritize appropriately
  • Highly developed written and verbal communications skills that are clear, concise, and appropriate in timing and directed to appropriate levels.
  • Proficiency with MS Excel, Power Point, Word, Salesforce and Power BI (or other sales planning tools)
  • Excellent analytical, communication and organizational skills
  • High degree of ownership and professional commitment
  • Acceptable driving record including valid driver's license
  • Work remotely. No requirement on region.
