McCormick & Company, Inc., a global leader in the spice, flavor, and seasonings industry, is seeking a full-time Blending Technician. This new hire will work at the Flavor Manufacturing Center, located in Hunt Valley, MD. The Blending Technician will report to the Production Team Manager.

POSITION OVERVIEW

 

Under the general supervision of the Production Team Manager, the Dry Blend Technician will process ingredients in blending equipment to make batch formulations. Complete required production records and input data into SAP.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Set up and start automatic blending equipment.
  • Continuously and repeatedly load packaging and raw materials.
  • Pack off finished product, perform checks on critical timing of equipment, prepare equipment half an hour to one hour prior to shift start.
  • Make product change-over, package size changes, minor repairs on all equipment,
  • Understand scheduling and can adequately perform in the absence of the crew leader
  • Be responsible for quality and quantity of production on a daily basis.
  • Document and record downtime and machine adjustments
  • Understand and practice loss control of raw and packaging materials
  • Assist in preventative maintenance duties with the assistance of the maintenance team.
  • Follow detailed procedures and complete paperwork accurately to ensure safe, consistent, and quality product. 
  • Work with teams to identify process issues and improvement opportunities by actively participating in continuous improvement activities
  • Actively promote safety and identify unsafe actions and conditions through the use of a principle based safety approach.
  • Complete monthly safety and quality inspections on assigned weeks.
  • Replenish production line(s) by operating a fork lift in a safe manner.
  • Mathematically calculate batch and material usage.
  • Be responsible for following plant attendance policy.
  • Perform other duties as required.

 

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must have a basic understanding of computer systems in the form of data entry.
  • Must be organized and possess strong problem solving skills.
  • Must be able to perform numerical calculations.
  • Proficient in reading and writing.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs repetitively.
  • Must possess excellent communication skills.
  • Able to work independently or in team environment
  • Must be able to work overtime daily, on short notice, including weekends
  • PAPR/ Respirator use required

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge of SAP, Infinity, Power Point, Access preferred.
  • 1+ years of manufacturing experience
  • High School diploma or equivalency
