We are looking to hire a full-time R&D Packaging Development Co-Op for our Global Headquarters in Hunt Valley, Maryland. This is a 6-month co-op position (June – December 2025) which requires 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday. Typical working hours fall between 8:30am and 5:00pm. The position is paid, and housing allowance will be granted for out-of-town candidates.

Position Overview:

The R&D Packaging Development Co-Op will be responsible for projects in the Convenient Meals category, to include innovation and new developments, line extensions, sustainability initiatives, cost savings, and plant support. Project work includes design, development, coordination, and commercialization of new packaging developments or changes. Projects must be managed to meet agreed upon objectives and deadlines.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop packaging specifications, pallet patterns, data synchronization and assist with the creation of assembly specifications.
• Support our ‘Purpose-Led Performance’ principles and work on sustainability initiatives by identifying, testing, and qualifying alternate packaging materials or processes. 
• Support department cost savings goals via project work and idea generation.
• Qualify packaging tooling, components, and processes.
• Support role may include some or all of the following:
  • Responsible for packaging laboratory testing, as assigned, and the analysis of resulting data.
  • Writing test reports, including recommendations and actions.
  • Develop and validates component and package test methods.
  • Obtain required documentation for regulatory compliance – FDA / CONEG compliance, technical data sheets, MSDS’s, etc.
  • Maintain documentation in SAP for technical component drawings, test methods, general specifications, and material compliance.

Required Qualifications:

• Currently enrolled as a Junior or Senior for the 2024-2025 school year.
• Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Packaging Science or related field.
• Effective oral and written communication skills and strong analytical skills for data tracking and results analysis.
• Ability to work independently, learn new tasks, solve problems, and show strong self-motivation and initiative.
• A collaborative / participative team orientation and comfort level working with and through people to accomplish goals.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

Additional Requirements:

• Willingness to relocate for the assignment. 
• Willingness to work in a corporate site and visit manufacturing sites for the duration of the co-op.
• Willingness to travel to manufacturing sites and/or supplier locations throughout the US as needed (up to 10% of the time).
