CoManufacturing Quality Manager I

This new hire will work in the Global Headquarters located in Hunt Valley, MD. The CoManufacturing Quality Manager I will report to a Director of Supplier Quality Management.

POSITION OVERVIEW

Reporting into the Quality Manager II-CoMan, the CoMan Quality Manager I serves as a technical specialist, consultant to business partners, and leader of Quality and Food Safety by planning and executing activities from onboarding, auditing, start-up support, issue resolution, to defect reduction and continuous improvement at Comanufacturing facilities to meet regulatory and McCormick requirements.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Deliver Business Success and Track Performance for Co-Manufacturers - responsible for Co-Manufacturers’ Quality and Food Safety KPIs through documentation, coaching and leadership of gap assessment, auditing, and complaint follow-ups via partnership with Quality and Operations staff at the CoManufacturers
  • Technical Consultation- provides technical guidance and direction within the Quality and Operations functions to enable the successful development of the site and the products 
  • Process Improvement and Optimization: Provides support for business-driven initiatives such as process improvements and/or contingency plans
  • Drive Customer Intimacy and Growth – partnership with CoManufacturing and TBO teams to engage with internal customers and deploy the strategy to meet their needs.  Ensure sites understand and are equipped to meet the business strategies and provide opportunities for learning and sharing between staff and external partners.  
  • Escalated Issue Management – responsible for ensuring food safety and quality issue decision-making, communication, and alignment at the appropriate levels of the organization for clarity and speed of decision
  • Supports Supply Chain, Learning and Development, Sales, Marketing, Commercialization, and Product Development functions as needed 
  • Travel requirements of up to 40%  
  • Visits sites to foster strong relationships, assess gaps, and develop strategies for success

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant discipline or relevant McCormick experience in a technical management field while in pursuit of a degree will also be considered
  • 4+ years experience in a relevant position
  • Participation in leadership coursework per appropriate level required
  • GFSI scheme (i.e. SQF, BRC) management experience required
  • Certification focused on Quality and Food Safety for Supply Chain requirement: PCQI (or HACCP based on region)
  • Auditing proficiencies required through training or certification (i.e. ASQ, CFSQA) 
  • Experience in at least one Quality focus areas (Customer, Operations, Regulatory, Supplier, Global CoE) or related function, including Supply Chain, Product Development
  • Experience in the Food/Flavor Industry
  • Ability to set and achieve project goals and objectives by applying the discipline of planning, organizing, and managing resources to bring about successful project completio
  • Ability to evaluate and coach sites/teams on projects to drive results
  • JIFSAN Core Risk Certificate or equivalent preferred
  • GFSI schemes certification (i.e. SQF practitioner certificate) preferred
  • Technical quality knowledge training or certification preferred (CQE, CSSBB) certified quality engineer or Six Sigma Black Belt for example
  • Team Leadership experience preferred
  • Experience working in TPM environments preferred
