This new hire will work in the Hunt Valley Plant, located in Hunt Valley, MD. The Department Manager - Production will report to a Operations Manager.

Position Overview

Under the general direction of the Operations Manager, the Department Manager provides strategic leadership for a Department within the Hunt Valley Plant. The Department Manager has overall accountability for the performance of a Department and the impact on the larger operating unit.  Leads Team Managers and staff to achieve exceptional business results through the development of people and continuous improvement of manufacturing and supply chain processes. Particpates as an active member of the leadership team and ensures that strategies across functions are aligned to create common objectives and achieve plant goals.

 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides leadership for a Department under the general supervision of the Operations Manager
  • Establishes critical operational action plans to support plant OGSM’s
  • Plans for continuous improvement and creates new and innovative strategies necessary to consistently meet our customer’s expectations
  • Establishes a vision/mission for a Department
  • Responsible to monitor and meet all key performance indicators for developing action plans to meet targets and provide necessary support to operation areas
  • Plans for technological, preventative maintenance and engineering improvements for operations
  • Ensures adherence to McCormick High Performance System models throughout a Department by providing appropriate coaching and development for direct reports
  • Develops and manages departmental budget
  • Works collaboratively with support departments to assure that all key processes, projects, and programs are completed successfully
  • Manages a 3 shift operation
  • Performs evaluations and creates development/training plans for direct reports within a Department

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • Experience in a Technical Field (i.e. Food Science, Engineering, or Chemistry) preferred
  • Minimum 7 years of functional/leadership experience required
  • Management experience in the manufacturing industry required.  Food, beverage and/or pharmaceutical manufacturing (GMP environment) experience preferred 
  • Strong leadership experience with demonstrated success in managing multiple projects and people required
  • Demonstrated experience developing, coaching, and motivating employees in a team based environment required
  • Strong communication and diplomacy skills required
  • Demonstrated experience responding to multiple and changing priorities and achieving results within a compressed time frame required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills necessary to effectively interact with all levels within the facility and organization required
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills required
  • Proficiency with MS Excel and Word required
  • Proficiency with SAP or another ERP system preferred
  • Flexibility to work across all shifts to meet business needs, required
  • Willingness to relocate for future assignments required
