This new hire will work at McCormick's Global HQ's located in HUnt Valley, MD. The Director, IT Strategy Services and Value Optimization will report to the CIO.

The Director, IT Strategy, Services & Value Optimization will lead integration of our IT strategy across the IT function aligned to McCormick’s long-term plans driving clear focused programs and value realization for projects and initiatives. The scope of the role includes delivering ongoing improvements and roadmap for ITSM (IT Service Management). Additionally, responsibilities include defining investment and re-investment strategies linked to our IT portfolio and aligned LTP. Supports development and execution of programs, projects, and strategic initiatives for the IT function with the primary focus on ITSM activities which support and enable the business. The position will work directly with various cross functional leadership and management on complex, cross-functional, global teams and workstreams, ensuring comprehensive planning and optimal execution of plans including measurement of outcomes and detailed analysis of benefits achieved. The position will work with executive and other senior leaders to drive strategic and operational excellence throughout the company aligned to optimizing IT services for McCormick.


Assignments will involve cross-functional and cross-business analysis support, problem solving, and solution design for improved, new, and enhanced global IT services. Develops and recommends the organization's strategic and long-range goals based on analysis and studies of business goals and strategic long-term plans.



  • Project Management
    • Collaborate with cross-functional global strategic IT workstreams to define scope, deliverables, responsibilities, and timelines.
    • Prioritize work effort and identify/reconcile interdependencies between programs and service management areas.
    • Directly oversee and recommend improvements to the development and management of ITSM roadmap collaborating with internal McCormick and external service providers.
    • Create processes for measuring value and benefits achieved through the multi-year ITSM roadmap.
  • Process Improvement
    • Foster continuous service delivery optimization and improvement.
    • Successfully transforming the IT organization by delivering best practices supporting Service Management and overall Operations Service Delivery.
    • Ensure all service management processes enable service agility.
    • Ability to define and document processes, critically analyze and define areas for improvement.
    • Facilitate workshops to define current state, future state, and process gaps.
  • Strategy
    • Define and implement a strategy to drive adoption of service management and operational best practices.
    • Develop strategic analysis / modeling for various areas (e.g. resourcing, project prioritization)
    • Perform research analysis such as external benchmarking.
    • Identify resources and sourcing of service management operations support.
    • Develop and lead cross-process compliance and design coordination within the operations team and cross-functionally throughout the IT Organization working closely with the CIO, VP IT Infrastructure and VP IT Global Solution Delivery on integrated roadmap and plans
  • Change Management
    • Identify requirements for change management and communications for the implementation of business initiatives.
    • Create content to support change management, communications, and training needs (e.g. stakeholder analysis, training requirements, stakeholder communications)
  • Incorporate actionable IT industry and business insights in the establishment of business cases for change.
  • Continually assess IT talent expertise, outline plans which ensure we acquire, develop, and retain talent to meet business ambitions



  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology field or related discipline
  • 10+ years’ experience leading and growing global customer oriented / business solutions functions involving transformational technology enabled initiatives / processes, and enterprise architecture /product solution life cycle management across multiple functions and geographies
  • 8-10 years of experience in strategy, operations, technology, banking, analytics, or related experience; high-growth or early-stage start-up experience is a plus; ideally in a project management or high-level executive support role.
  • Proven experience forming, leading, developing and coaching direct and cross functional high performing teams to deliver short and long-term strategies, grow industry /process /business skills and build a robust talent pipeline.
  • Experience in formation of multi-million dollar operating and capital budgets. Ability to perform reviews of financial analysis and understand implications to broader McCormick financial statements.
  • Experience working in global, multicultural environments which require cultural awareness.
  • Proven business experience within service management, strategic partnership relationship management, program management.
  • Experience negotiating large vendor engagements and contracts for products and service management.
  • ITIL certification.
  • Extensive experience leading strategy and delivery of ITSM capabilities and driving benefits through enhanced and new services
  • Proven ability to successfully collaborate with business and technology senior leaders and teams to promote and manage consistent IT operating processes and process improvements.  
  • Strong relationship management skills to build and maintain credibility and confidence with executive level, stakeholders, and employees.  
  • Strong personal presence and ability to influence, galvanize and align customers and employees at all levels.
  • Strong communication, facilitation, presentation, and creative problem-solving skills
  • Possess strong external industry connections and ability to utilize network
  • Able to draw on industry and business insights to incorporate in the solution roadmap.
  • Strategic and forward thinking with strong business acumen with ability to identify and proactively address impacts and disruptions.
  • Change management expertise that integrates the project, cultural and business impacts.
  • Strong business and financial acumen for project, capital and operational budgets including experience of collaborating with business to develop, implement and realize return on investment.
  • Able to establish business cases for change and articulates those business cases for budget/funding, including enterprise collaboration for prioritization with other solution areas.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time maximum as appropriate.
