Director, Human Relations - America's Planning & Logistics

The Director, Human Relations will report to a Senior Director, Human Relations - America's Supply Chain. This position is based at McCormick's global headquarters in Hunt Valley, MD, and is eligible to participate in our 50/50 hybrid work program (50% onsite and 50% remote per month).

The Director Human Relations is responsible for ensuring the implementation of the Global and Regional HR Strategy locally as well as the effective operation of the Human Resources function and associated activities. As the HR Leader within the North America Supply Chain (NASC) Planning and Logistics network, the position is responsible for providing support to multiple site employees in the successful implementation of HR policies and practices, consults with leaders and employees to operationalize the people strategy and provide leadership and strategic support for McCormick’s Distribution Centers and partners closely with leaders and HR colleagues to ensure the continued building of a high-performance work system. Key areas of responsibility include, Organizational Design (including Technician Work System), Organizational Health, People Change Management, Governance over rewards/recognition, communication systems, talent management systems such as compensation, recruitment and succession planning and team development & effectiveness.



  • Provide HR leadership as a results focused change agent in the areas of employee engagement, recruitment, employee relations, compensation, performance management, succession planning, employee communications, training and policy interpretation
  • Develop and implement the talent strategy that is aligned with the business needs over the next 3-5 years, providing insight, leadership and support for short-term and long-term workforce planning using data driven analysis for exempt and non-exempt staff
  • Through OPM (Organizational Performance Model) sessions will consult with leadership and managers on organizational structure, roles and responsibilities, and staffing levels and establish effective staffing/hiring strategies to deliver intended results
  • Leads HR system process improvement initiatives and special projects
  • Act as a contributor and a proactive agent in the development and delivery of diversity and inclusion programs supporting all facility employees through employee development programs, individual development and career counseling, training and development programs, team skills, and leadership skills in a multi shift environment
  • Foster accountability for employee engagement and performance by ensuring appropriate training/goal setting and recognition plans and programs are in place
  • Collaborates with various Centers of Excellence (COE’s) across the company to ensure that the needs of the sites are met and in alignment with corporate programs and strategies
  • Manages and develops direct reports



  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Human Resources, or a related field
  • Minimum 8 years of HR experience
  • Experience coaching/counseling across levels and functions
  • Experience managing multiples projects / initiatives simultaneously & executing successfully to completion
  • Strong team work skills to include experience collaborating with cross functional teams defining problems, collecting data, establishing facts and drawing valid conclusions and delivering workable solutions
  • Experience successfully leading others, developing staff, and influencing change
  • Willing to travel to other facilities across the network 10-25% of the time



  • PHR/SPHR Certification
  • Experience working in a Distribution Center
  • SAP experience
