Position Summary
McCormick is seeking a Director ESG Reporting & Disclosures (ESG Controller) to lead the governance, controls, and disclosure integrity of ESG reporting, ensuring readiness for evolving global regulatory requirements.
The role serves as the enterprise authority on ESG reporting controls and financial-grade disclosures, partnering closely with Sustainability, Enterprise Risk Management, Investor Relations, and business functions to ensure ESG data is accurate, auditable, and aligned with regulatory expectations.
The ESG Controller will oversee ESG disclosure strategy and reporting governance, strengthen internal controls, and ensure audit readiness across all ESG-related disclosures.
The position reports to the Senior Director, External Reporting.
Responsibilities
Lead ESG disclosure strategy, governance, and reporting oversight and ensure readiness for evolving global ESG regulatory requirements (CSRD, ISSB)
- Own and oversee McCormick’s ESG disclosure strategy and reporting framework, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and leading practices
- Provide enterprise oversight of ESG disclosures across:
- Annual and sustainability reporting (e.g., Purpose-Led Performance Report)
- Regulatory filings and financial statements (as applicable)
- ESG ratings, rankings, and investor communications
- Ensure consistency, transparency, and alignment of ESG disclosures across all external channels
- Enable investor-grade ESG reporting, supporting regulatory compliance, investor confidence, and external credibility
Establish and strengthen ESG reporting controls and audit readiness
- Define and maintain a robust ESG reporting control environment, aligned with SOX and financial reporting standards
- Conduct assurance readiness assessments and remediate gaps in ESG reporting processes and controls
- Oversee third-party assurance and attestation processes, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and reliability of ESG data
- Ensure appropriate documentation, audit trails, and system enablement for ESG reporting
- Partner with internal audit and external advisors to support audit readiness and continuous improvement
Partner across the enterprise and build capability in ESG reporting and disclosures
- Serve as the primary liaison between Finance, Sustainability, Enterprise Risk Management, Legal, and Investor Relations to ensure alignment of ESG data, metrics, and disclosures
- Ensure ESG metrics are: clearly defined, consistently applied, aligned with external frameworks and regulatory requirements
- Support alignment between Sustainability strategy (targets, KPIs) and financial and regulatory disclosures
- Provide guidance to functions responsible for ESG data generation to ensure control, consistency, and reporting readiness
- Build enterprise capability through training and education on ESG reporting requirements, controls, and regulatory expectations
- Provide thought leadership on emerging ESG reporting trends, standards, and stakeholder expectations, helping to scale consistent, high-quality ESG data and disclosures across the organization
Qualifications
- Undergraduate or graduate degree in finance, business, sciences, engineering, finance, or relevant field
- 10+ years relevant experience in financial reporting, controllership, or audit; or ESG reporting, sustainability reporting, or related areas
- Deep expertise in internal controls and financial reporting processes, ESG reporting frameworks and standards (e.g., SASB, GRI, TCFD, ISSB)
- Strong understanding of evolving ESG regulatory environment, audit and assurance requirements
- Experience working across complex, global organizations and cross-functional teams
- Proven ability to lead enterprise initiatives and influence without direct authority
- Strong cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder engagement skills
- Ability to translate complex regulatory and technical topics into clear, actionable business guidance
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
- High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy and integrity
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic regulatory environment

Base Salary: $140,610 to $253,080
Base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, experience for this role, and/or internal equity of our current employees as part of any final offer. This position is also eligible to participate in McCormick’s Incentive Bonus (MIB) Plan.
