McCormick & Company, Inc., a global leader in the spice, flavor, and seasonings industry, is seeking a full-time Global Buyer II. This new hire will work in the Global Headquarters, located in Hunt Valley, MD. The Global Buyer II will report to a Global Procurement Category Director .

This role is responsible for the operational support of key global raw materials categories as well as global purchasing of goods/services with an annual spend of up to $30 million.  Operationally, will identify and deliver raw material cost savings and make efficiency and cost improvements to overall supply chain. Will manage logistical complexities, specification impacts, and financial implications; continuously identify and implement supply chain improvements; leverage supplier capabilities to bring innovation to the business

Sourcing responsibilities will include the development of global procurement strategies and programs to optimize cost and supplier service levels while mitigating supply chain, quality and financial risks. Sourcing responsibilities will also include the identification of Purpose Led Performance opportunities for the goods/services purchased and development of implementation and communication plans to enable a key McCormick corporate objective.



  • Establishes and executes strategies for their categories globally; including with R&D and manufacturing plants to ideate and progress new business opportunities for raw materials (specifications, recipes, logistics, capital asset management)
  • Leads supplier performance management through the negotiations of procured materials and services to assure optimal TCO (Cost, Quality, Delivery, Innovation) achieved.
  • Develops and implements strategies, including supply chain efficiencies, to assure lowest overall cost while mitigating risk to the Corporation
  • Promotes high level of customer satisfaction in supporting the needs of Divisional projects & requirements for Purchasing guidance & leadership.
  • Engages with senior procurement personnel to ensure category alignment with regional strategies.
  • Participates in the financial planning and forecasting process as well as provides periodic relevant market information and dynamics to internal stakeholders for all global regions.
  • Provides information to Regional Procurement for Level I & II Supply and Quality Issues; actively involved team participating in Level II Supply & Quality issues
  • Develops and documents in-depth knowledge of markets, supply chain, and suppliers.
  • Assists with make-buy decisions; conducts formal presentations as well as coordinates and conducts supplier reviews.
  • Regular assessment and analysis of moderately complex business opportunities.



  • Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, Business, Finance, Accounting or applicable field of study
  • 5+ years in Purchasing/Supply Chain environment with operational process experience or equivalent combination of relevant work and educational experience
  • Thorough knowledge of industries for assigned categories. Technical awareness in assigned categories. McCormick product and business knowledge.
  • Systems capabilities to maximize supplier performance and negotiating leverage.
  • Ability to deal with diverse and sometimes conflicting priorities.
  • Sound and comprehensive communication and diplomacy skills are required to exchange complicated information.




  • 3+ yrs project management, execution of or participation in large, multiple or cross-functional projects. Project management/process improvement.
  • 2+ yrs managing, leading developing dynamic work teams. 
  • CPM or APICS certification
  • Experience in development and implementation of pipeline/ supply chain  efficiency projects (Lean and six sigma continuous improvement )
