Position Overview

McCormick is seeking a Director of Operations & Value Chain Resilience to lead the enterprise strategy to strengthen the resilience of McCormick’s operations and value chain systems, ensuring risk mitigation and sustainable performance.

 

The role is responsible for defining and advancing an integrated approach to enterprise resilience including sustainable and resilient value chain systems, lead integration and coordination of human rights due diligence (HRDD) across operations and value chain, supply base resilience.

The role connects environmental and social dimensions of resilience, ensuring a consistent, enterprise-wide approach to risk identification, mitigation, and long-term value creation.

 

The Director will drive and coordinate cross-functional alignment and delivery, partnering closely with Operations, Procurement, R&D, and Commercial teams, while execution of initiatives remains within those functions.

 

The position reports to the Chief Sustainability Officer and partners closely with HR, Supply Chain Operations and Procurement (Sustainable Sourcing), R&D, and other enterprise functions.

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Define enterprise strategy for operations and value chain resilience and lead a cohesive enterprise resilience framework

Own and continuously evolve McCormick’s enterprise resilience strategy and cohesive framework with alignment across operations and the value chain. Own strategic approach to enterprise resilience, with a focus on human rights, social risk, and supply chain resilience.

Ensure alignment with business strategy, regulatory requirements, and external stakeholder expectations.

Identify and enable value creation opportunities, including supply security, cost resilience, risk mitigation, and customer-driven growth linked to resilience initiatives.

 

  • Lead enterprise resilience, social risk integration, and cross-functional delivery (including HRDD).

Drive and coordinate clear enterprise roadmaps and priorities in partnership with execution teams in HR, Operations, Procurement. Ensure consistent identification, assessment, and mitigation of social risks in operations (own employees) and value chains (farmers), including labor, human rights, and livelihood risks, aligned with HRDD standards.

Establish governance mechanisms to track delivery and ensure accountability.

Partner with Director, Climate Strategy & Transition to align environmental and social risk mitigation, including physical climate impacts on operations, own workforce, supply, and farming communities.

 

  • Establish and/or recommend company positions, policies, and standard operating practices, for material social sustainability matters or for emerging regulatory requirements.

Create a glidepath for enabling company compliance with current and emerging regulatory requirements company-wide for material social topics, such as Human Rights Due Diligence requirements. Partner to ensure accurate reporting of associated metrics in alignment with external frameworks.

 

  • Build external relationships and represent the company in prioritized external events and partnerships.

Identify opportunities to showcase thought leadership and represent the company in prioritized external events and conferences.

Develop partnerships with NGOs and industry groups to advance scalable solutions.

Stay ahead of emerging trends and standards.

 

  • Build enterprise capability and embed resilience into core decision-making.

Build awareness among employees at all levels to engage in social impact efforts. Build enterprise capability in systems thinking.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate social resilience and risk mitigation considerations into business processes and decision-making frameworks. Develop tools, frameworks, and guidance to support investments and action.

Provide data-driven recommendations for improvements and provide guidance on implementation.

 

Secondary Responsibilities

•            Support customer and commercial engagement on resilience topics

•            Contribute to enterprise sustainability communications and cross-functional initiatives

•            Provide input into broader sustainability strategy and integration

 

Required Qualifications

  • BA/BS Business, Social Science, or relevant discipline
  • 10+ years of experience in social impact, corporate social responsibility, sustainability, or related fields
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Global supply chains and manufacturing systems
    • Human rights due diligence and social risk management
    • Environmental and social interdependencies in value chains
  • Experience working across complex, global organizations with cross-functional stakeholders
  • Familiarity with evolving regulatory landscape related to human rights and due diligence
  • Proven ability to lead enterprise initiatives without direct authority
  • Strong influencing, stakeholder alignment, and communication skills
  • Ability to translate complex risk and systems concepts into business-relevant strategies
  • Strong systems thinking and analytical capability
  • Ability to balance strategic design with practical implementation
  • Experience building frameworks, metrics, and enterprise approaches

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience integrating human rights and environmental sustainability strategies
  • Background in food, agriculture, or consumer goods sectors
  • Experience working with NGOs, industry coalitions, or multi-stakeholder initiatives

Base Salary: $121,900 - $219,410

 

Base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, experience for this role, and/or internal equity of our current employees as part of any final offer. This position is also eligible to participate in McCormick’s Incentive Bonus (MIB) Plan.
