IBP Business Relationship Consultant

Position Overview

This position uses in-depth knowledge of our applications and tools to facilitate the optimization of business unit performance by enhancing the alignment between business process and information technology.  The IBP Business Relationship Consultant is responsible for application continuity, system failure prevention, system problem calls, and user inquiries while enabling both IT solutions and business process improvements. This position serves as the top functional or technical consultant on all projects touching their area of expertise. On all but the largest projects, incumbent may act as the GBS Project Manager. This position is primarily responsible for configuring but also assists in directing the work of others. The incumbent has configuration expertise in multi-threads or technical areas (EDI, Workflow, BW, Portal, etc.), and functional knowledge of user exits.


Key Responsibilities

  • May serve as functional leader, team member or GBS Project Manager on multiple applications, technology projects and strategic planning initiatives.            
  • Responsible for the configuration of SAP- IBP/S4/APO/ECC and/or coding process and may direct the work of others.
  • Formulates systems scope, estimates, and objectives relative to business needs and project requirements, considering application of industry best practices and new technologies.
  • Primary liaison to business and IT systems workstream leaders on defining and configuring collaboration solutions, addressing business objectives, enabling efficiencies and developing  Long Term Plan
  • Responsible for driving business value and best practice for McCormick through the implementation of SAP IBP and PPDS
  • Participates in project design reviews for Tier 1 and 2 projects.  
  • Seeks constant improvement opportunities and appropriately challenges processes.       
  • Working closely with steering committees, business leads, internal and external customers, vendors and peer companies, researches, evaluates, and recommends new technologies to support McCormick’s strategic initiatives.
  • Serves as backup for other Consultants and may participate in system support activities including off-core hours.
  • Responsible for system problem calls, user inquiries, Change Management, and root cause analyses.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree. May consider 12 years of related experience in lieu of degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or related discipline
  • 12 years in-depth expertise in IT in Supply Chain Planning. Minimum of 5 full life-cycle implementations, preferably including 2 with global deployment.
    • 5+ years’ experience of SAP APO SNP&PPDS hands-on configuration and processes
    • 1 IBP implementation with hands-on configuration, preferably Response & Supply. Proficient in IBP best practices
  • Experience – Supply chain functional/industry/commercial knowledge, business acumen. CPG industry preferred
  • Global business and functional acumen: able to understand the complexities of regional and global businesses and how they fit into a single Integrated Business Planning template.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead in problem solving process for projects and support. In-depth knowledge of underlying application architecture of multiple process areas. Knowledge/understanding of multiple business process capabilities and interdependencies through project participation/experience and can assess impact of changes requested.
  • Interpersonal Skills - leadership, interactions, communication, influence
  • Excellent organizational and verbal communication skills; outstanding problem-solving skills and sound judgment. Capable of influencing, assigning work and monitoring follow-through and output. Demonstrated written communication skills, specifically, documentation of system design, configuration, and process specifications. Interacts frequently with peers to senior management (presents to and interacts with function heads and steering committees) Attends user group meetings and conferences to advance the organization's issues, needs and desires within our applications and technology supplier base. Acts as a mentor and coach within team; proactively shares knowledge with team members and customers. Performs role in a professional manner with the ability to develop effective working relationships.
  • Expertise in tactical execution, project management, process management and business systems requirements definition. In-depth understanding of transport process and on-line system support (OSS) Knowledgeable of some SAP bolt-ons used at McCormick.
  • SAP-IBP and/or APICS certification is a plus
