RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Sample all incoming raw materials and finished products in accordance with specified procedures.
  • Conduct analytical testing of both raw and finished products.
  • Comparing analytical results with specifications, and making recommendations for corrective action or an alternative disposition of product.
  • Performs line checks, including cataloging and collecting retain samples.
  • Enter test result data into SAP and perform other transactions/navigation as necessary to perform the job.
  • Communicates test results, discuss performance metrics as they relate to Quality, and work collaboratively with various levels of operations to correct problems and improve processes.
  • Interprets lab SOPs.  Must be able to record and maintain accurate data.
  • Actively participate in DDS/department meetings.
  • Perform sanitation duties, proper housekeeping, and adhere to safety guidelines.
  • Perform calibration, troubleshooting, and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
  • Participate in TPM teams and improving process capability.
  • Train peers on topics that could include, GMP policies, safety, and job tasks.
  • Perform other tasks associated with quality, such as operations line inspections, environmental monitoring program swabs, sanitation validation studies, and root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Drive continuous improvement of processes in the lab through suggestions, improvement projects, 5S, and root cause identification tools.
  • Participate and achieve acceptable results in proficiency audits.

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalency.
  • Twelve (12) college credits/CEUs or 1-2 years of lab experience.
  • Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and Good Laboratory Practices (GLPs).
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills; Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Applicant must have strong troubleshooting skills and ability to identify, analyze and solve problems.
  • Proven ability to prioritize work effectively, flexibility to adjust to shift changes including weekends and overtime on short notice.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing practices in a very fast pace working environment required.
  • Must possess strong teamwork capabilities, including conflict resolution.
  • Strong PC skills, experience operating in a Windows environment, managing files and handling data
  • Ability to lift 10 pounds continuously, 20 pounds frequently, and up to 50 pounds occasionally required.
  • Ability to occasionally work in an environment that is subject to temperature extremes, spice dust and odors, noise and vibration.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 4-year College degree in Food Science, Biology, Chemistry or related field is strongly desired. 
  • Experience in a food manufacturing environment and/or knowledge of food safety/HACCP/food quality.
  • Experience with analytical equipment and chemistry testing such as NIR, GC, HPLC.
  • Ability to collect and analyze data using Excel.
  • SAP experience preferred, especially in relation to QM module, product formulary and retrieval systems.
  • Experience in customer service and/or responding to customer complaints.
  • Experience maintaining confidential information.
