We are looking to hire a Lab Tech II immediately at our Technical Innovation Center in Hunt Valley, Maryland.

The Food Flavor Lab Technician will support the Flavor Creations Lab through preparing food formulations, and screening flavors in a variety of tasting bases that represent finished products in the food industry. This will involve organizing tastings, recording data, and shipping out flavors/prototypes to customers.

 

Key Responbilities

 

Responsible for preparing food formulations

Setting up flavors and raw materials for screening and evaluation

Recording data

Managing raw materials

Coordinating internal tasting sessions and setting up ballots 

Preparing and sending out shipments

Stocking, ordering and maintaining lab supplies, and ordering raw materials from plant or suppliers. 

Working to create simple food formulations with support from team

 

Secondary Responsibilities

 

Operating advanced food processing equipment

 

High school diploma or GED required

 

Lab experience a plus, food lab preferred
  • Has a passion for food and food product development and an interest in learning more about the food industry
  • Curiosity and innovative thinking
  • Works independently and shows initiative
  • Proven success multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment
  • Good communication skills, including written and verbal
  • Proven ability to work within a team environment as well as the ability to work independently
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills
  • Ability to adapt to rapidly changing priorities and multiple tasks, with ability to take direction from product developers, scientists, and supervisor
  • Ability to taste diverse foods, including nutrition-focused foods that may contain such materials as added fiber and artificial sweeteners
  • Knowledge of GMP’s and food safety
  • Ability to work accurately with calculations, such as ratios, decimals, algebra, percentages, etc., as related to food formulas and recipes in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
  • Ability to work overtime or on short notice in the evenings
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of technical software or ability to learn and adapt
  • Demonstrated data entry and basic PC skills, including Excel and Word
